Nick gifts Raquel with an expensive Vivienne Tam dress for her to wear to dinner with his parents. After he drops the dress off, telling her she'll look great, she looks through the bag and finds a pack of pantyhose he also bought. She doesn't get why since the dress will cover her ankles until she notices they are heavy-duty, ''control top'' pantyhose.

He makes up an excuse for Danvers's absence and asks Leah to spend New Year's with his wife and kid so they are not alone. He removes the molar before she can ask any more questions and drives her to his home.

Mr. Heiss got shot and Hank, Officer Prior, when he went to dispose of the body, suffered some accident in the blizzard. You know, come summer, we'll find him. We always do... unless we don't. Young Officer Prior... Pete was Hank's son. He was out lookin' for us that night in the storm. I'm sure you read about that in the report.\\

She stops Navarro so they can get him to talk. With the blizzard, they cannot drive away, so they are stuck on the station with no radio or Wi-Fi.

In the meantime, at Danvers's home, Peter Prior scrubs everything as best he can, stows the bodies of Otis Heiss and his dad in the latter’s car trunk, and washes the blood off himself. Just as Peter finds a molar embedded on a wall, Leah arrives to spend New Year's with her stepmom. She is surprised to find Peter there and asks him why is he cleaning up and where is Danvers. To stop her from asking more questions, he asks Leah to spend New Year's with his wife and kid so they are not alone. He removes the molar from the wall before driving her to his home.

Back at the station. Danvers and Navarro have Clark taped to a chair. He refuses to answer their questions, so Navarro forces him to listen to Annie K's recording, including the sounds of her screams as she is attacked. They leave him alone, gagged and blindfolded to listen to the recording on a loop. As he freaks out, they go get some coffee.

The Priors'. Peter drops off Leah, but Kayla confronts him before he can leave, and demands to know what is going on. Peter tells her he has to do something but can't tell her what it is. I need to do this one thing, and then I will be here with you. But right now, I just... I need fսcking..." She interrupts him with a Big Damn Kiss and tells him to stay safe.

The station's kitchen. Danvers helps herself to some snacks and Navarro gets an ice pack. Navarro mentions how both her mom and Julia could remove the peel from an orange in a single piece. He justifies their actions by claiming that if they could finish the work, Annie K's death would not have been in vain. He also denies cutting out her tongue, but admits that they did call the mine to clean up things. "She's been hiding in those caves forever. [...] And before she was born, after we all die, time is a flat circle, and we are all stuck in it." After hearing all this, Danvers muses that Clark was hiding there under all their noses while they were searching the station. She instructs Navarro to not let Clark sleep and goes off for a nap. He begs Navarro to either kill him or let him die.

Just before she stops struggling, Navarro pulls her out and saves her. While Navarro tries to get Danvers to stay awake, Danvers flashes back to happy moments with Holden. She finally asks Navarro as to what Holden had to say. "He says that... he sees you. He sees you, Liz." This makes her finally break down in Navarro's arms.

Somewhere on the ice, same location as Julia Navarro's final resting place. Rose Aguineau makes Peter Prior break a hole in the ice. Then she tells him to look away so he doesn't see her cutting Hank's body so he doesn't float. Peter himself pushes his father's body in the water where it sinks. Rose warns him that what comes after is going to be the hardest. The aurora boreal appears to them. It is now January 1st.

The answer leads them to the home of Bee and Blair, the two employees at the seafood processing plant from Part I. [[note]]Bee was the one who bashed Blair's abusive boyfriend in the head with a bucket.[[/note]] Danvers and Navarro ask them about what happened to the scientists. An unapologetic Bee explains the story. While cleaning at the station, she spilled some water that was dripping toward the panel hiding the hatch. She went down the ladder, found the lab, etc. and realized the scientists killed Annie. They did not report because they have no faith in law enforcement: "It's always the same story, with the same ending. So we told ourselves another story." As Bee tells the story, several women from the Iñupiaq community file in. Bee and Malee, along with those women, burst into the station, cut the power, kidnapped the scientists at gunpoint (minus Clark, who was hiding in the cave) and drove them away to a remote location, forced them to take off their clothes and run off.

A flashback shows Navarro walking into the snow. She leaves Qavvik the [=SpongeBob=] toothbrush he gifted her. Having told their story of how they avenged Annie K, Bee defiantly asks Navarro what are she and Danvers going to do. Danvers tells them the official reason for their deaths was a "slab avalanche" and that the case is closed.

In the lab, they find a star-shaped tool, reminiscent of the wounds in Annie K's body. They look around for Clark, who manages to trap Danvers in a passage and knocks out Navarro with a fire extinguisher. Danvers breaks in and finds Navarro has turned the tables on Clark. They force him to listen to the recording of Annie K being attacked.

Peter Prior scrubs all the blood in Danvers's home, stuffs the bodies in Hank's car, and finally washes the blood off. Right after he finds a molar embedded in the wall, Leah stops by to spend New Year's with Danvers. She asks questions such as why is he cleaning up Danvers's home. To get her to leave, he asks her to go back to the Priors' home so Kayla and Darwin are not alone for New Year's. He drops her off, talks to Kayla without telling her exactly what happened, and finally drives of to Rose Aguineau. She helps him dispose of Hank's body and warns him that the worst part is going to last forever.

Clark finally confesses: Annie K found out what they were doing and started destroying their lab and years' worth of work. Lund found out what she was doing, and stabbed her. The others joined in and also stabbed her. Despite all that, Annie was still alive so Clark finally smothered her to death.

Danvers hears Holden call her from beneath the ice. She cracks the surface and falls in. Navarro pulls her out and saves her from drowning and freezing.

At a funeral home, Julia Navarro is cremated. Evangeline is given an urn with her sister's ashes and hugs it tightly.

The Lighthouse. Danvers is given ten minutes to talk to Otis, who is struggling with withdrawal symptoms. She questions him about Raymond Clark (he was crazy and said "she's awake" a lot) and the day he got hurt (there was a blizzard, a cave-in, and he woke up in the hospital). She tells him he ''will'' take her and Navarro to the ice caves at Bear Creek. He just needs her to help him (get him some drugs). She refuses.

Peter Prior goes home to find Kayla has packed his bag. She tells him to leave their home and makes it clear it is not up for discussion.

Navarro and Danvers go to the ice caves, but the ice caves are located in Silver Sky property. Worse, the entrance is blocked.

Speaking of the mining operation, there is a protest. Protesters wave their signs around and chant "Land back, water back". Leah is there with her girlfriend Sheri, both having painted their faces a la Annie K. Troopers (including Navarro) are sent in. Things get violent, with Navarro having a bottle thrown at her helmeted head. Amid the mess of people fighting, she sees Annie K for a minute. Leah is grabbed by an overzealous trooper who strikes her with his baton. Sheri gets scared and abandons Leah to get beaten some more. It takes Navarro's intervention and her fists to make him stop.

At the station, Danvers gets a call from Connelly. Mining company owner Kate [=McKittrick=] is furious and wants the three of them to meet.

Navarro is driving Leah (who has an ice pack to the head) away. Leah does not want to go home, but Danvers has ordered Navarro to take Leah to the station and arrest her.

Speaking of the station Peter has been following the money. To put it in simple terms: the mine was bankrolling the "independent" company measuring the operation's pollution levels and producing false results that allowed it to remain in operations despite how it harms the community.

While Leah is hanging out in her cell, Peter brings her some vending machine snacks. She tells him that Kayla has been crying and even brings up what made Kayla fall in love with Peter back in school: a game where he deliberately messed up, so that another kid whose dad had suffered a stroke got the chance to score. Kayla just wants her "stupid idiot" back.

The mining company HQ. Tense meeting between Connelly, mining company owner Kate [=McKittrick=] and Danvers. Kate shows footage of Danvers and Navarro approaching the ice caves i.e. trespassing. According to the Anchorage authorities the Tsalal scientists's deaths were not a murder, but rather they froze to death due to a "slab avalanche", completely contradicting the theory that they died before freezing. While Danvers gets off "I'm sorry Bill [Kate's husband] is such a terrible lay. You have my sympathies." Connelly makes it clear to Danvers that he knows about what really happened when they went to the Wheeler home.

Hank meets up with Kate [=McKittrick=] at her car, where they chat. Their conversation reveals that Hank has been in Silver Sky's pocket in exchange for money and a promise to be made chief, which didn't happen because [[ReassignedToAntarctica Connelly appointed Danvers to Ennis]]. Kate promises to make him chief. All he has to do now is to make sure Otis Heiss disappears because no one is going to miss some junkie. Hank claims he is not a killer, so Kate makes it clear that she is ''not'' telling him to kill Otis.

Navarro is at the laundromat, hallucinating for a second a lock of long black hair in the washing machine. Just then, Qavvik arrives accompanied by someone named Kenny. He has the rock with the spiral that she lost last episode. According to his grandpa, hunters left rock as a warning to others in places where the ice could swallow them whole. She goes to the station to tell Danvers, but the latter tells Navarro that Connelly knows all about what happened at Wheeler's home and that the case is closed. An angry Navarro tells Danvers that she has been carrying Annie's murder all these years, and it is now Danvers's turn. She lets out Leah.

Somewhere along the frozen sea. Rose Aguineau cracks the surface so Navarro can pour Julia's ashes into the sea. But she has another vision something of calling her farther into the frozen sea, and she walks out into thin ice. Only Rose calling out to her and telling her to lie down stops her from sharing Julia's fate.

Danvers goes to the Priors' home to talk to Leah. She gets to see all the bruises and Lea brings up that there have been nine stillbirths in the community in the last three months alone. Danvers leaves and notices Hank is following her. First she stops by the cemetery to see a whole lot of tiny coffins awaiting burial then by the station. In her office, she interrogates Peter. It turns out that Peter did enough digging to confirm that the left-handed William Wheeler did not kill himself. On top of that, the password to his work laptop was so easy to guess that Hank was able to access all the information and tell on Danvers. She gives him a key to a shed in her yard so he can stay there instead of at his dad's. Learning of his father's actions leaves Peter so broken that when Hank tries to chat, Peter responds furiously.

Danvers bribes Otis with heroin so he will guide her and Navarro to the ice caves. At her house, Otis gets busy smoking while Danvers calls Navarro (at the moment, cuddling with Qavvik's on his bed) and tells was her to come over. But Hank shows up, claiming Connelly ordered him to take Otis in on an outstanding warrant. Danvers sees right through this and tries to call Connelly, but he slaps away her phone. Otis tries to run, but Han shoots and kills him. He then points the gun at Danvers and blames her for Peter hating him.

Except Peter heard the gunshot from the shed and he shows up, pointing his gun at his father. Hank claims that he did not kill Annie, he just moved her body and "blood is blood". Before Hank can kill Danvers, Peter is forced to shoot his father. Just then Navarro (who on the way, sees a child pointing at her like other ghosts have) shows up, finding two dead bodies and Danvers and Peter in full HeroicBSoD mode. Navarro calmly lays out a plan to make Hank's death look like an accident. Peter is to clean up and take the bodies to Rose Aguineau, with explicit instructions to say to her, "Take me to Julia". The last scene is Danvers and Navarro going to the ice caves.
