** Linda Hamilton also reprised the role of Sarah Connor in the second film. She initially refused to do any more sequels after ''Judgment Day'', but the producers eventually managed to convince her to return in ''Dark Fate'', marking her first appearance in the series after 28 years.

* In both ''Film/TwoThousandOneASpaceOdyssey'' and ''Film/TwoThousandTenTheYearWeMakeContact'', Keir Dullea plays Dr David Bowman. He remarkably doesn't seem to have aged at all between the two films, even although they were made 16 years apart.

* Creator/ArnoldSchwarzenegger and Creator/LindaHamilton both reprised their roles as T-800 and Sarah Connor in ''Film/Terminator2JudgmentDay'' (1991), released seven years after [[Film/TheTerminator the original film]] (1984). Arnie returned for ''[[Film/Terminator3RiseOfTheMachines Rise of the Machines]]'' (2003), ''[[Film/TerminatorGenisys Genisys]]'' (2015), and ''[[Film/TerminatorDarkFate Dark Fate]]'' (2019); the only reason he didn't return for ''[[Film/TerminatorSalvation Salvation]]'' (2009) was because he was serving as the Governor of California, but he did approve for his likeness to be used for the CGI T-800. Linda Hamilton initially refused to do any more sequels after ''Judgment Day'', but the producers eventually managed to convince her to return in ''Dark Fate'', marking her first appearance in the series after 28 years. On a fairly minor role, Creator/EarlBoen played Dr. Silberman in the first three films.

* Creator/HarrisonFord plays the title character of ''Franchise/IndianaJones'' in the first three movies ([[Film/RaidersOfTheLostArk 1981, [[Film/IndianaJonesAndTheTempleOfDoom 1984]] and [[Film/IndianaJonesAndTheLastCrusade 1989]]), and then reprised the role in the [[Film/IndianaJonesAndTheKingdomOfTheCrystalSkull fourth movie]] from 2008 and the [[Film/IndianaJonesAndTheDialOfDestiny fifth movie]] from 2023. Karen Allen also reprised the role of Marion Ravenwood from the first movie in both those films. The third film also brought back Creator/DenholmElliott as Marcus Brody and Creator/JohnRhysDavies as Sallah from the first film, with the latter also reprising his role in the fifth film.

* In both ''Film/TwoThousandOneASpaceOdyssey'' and ''Film/TwoThousandTenTheYearWeMakeContact'', Keir Dullea plays Dr David Bowman, appearing to be the same age (it's a timey-wimey thing), even although they were made 16 years apart.

** In ''Film/GhostbustersAfterlife'', All members of the original Ghostbusters (minus the late Creator/HaroldRamis, of course) from the first two films reprise their roles, as do Creator/SigourneyWeaver (Dana Barrett) and Creator/AnniePotts (Janine Melnitz). The only major actor to not reprise his role from the original film was Creator/RickMoranis (Louis Tully), who has been mostly retired.
