He meets the Digital Monster [[Manga/BlueExorcist Renzou Shiima]], who has escaped from DATS, a secret government organization headed by [[VideoGame/Persona5 Sojiro Sakura]] and consisting of [[VideoGame/ValkyriaChronicles Alicia Melchiott]], [[Anime/FateStayNightUnlimitedBladeWorks Kirei]] (who was [[Franchise/DotHack Kite]] in his youth) and [[VideoGame/Persona5 Igor]], their partners [[Franchise/AceAttorney Phoenix Wright]], [[Manga/TheSevenDeadlySins Margaret Liones]], [[Manga/{{Naruto}} Might Guy]] and [[Anime/BDamanCrossfire Asuka Kami]], and BridgeBunnies [[Anime/KillLaKill Nui Harime]] and [[VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou Rhyme]]. Despite terrible first impressions, Raiden and Renzou become best friends by [[FireForgedFriendship beating each other up]]. With the help of DATS, they work to investigate various incidents involving the Digital World and Digital Monsters, to try and get to the bottom of things. Kaname aims to [[OmnicidalManiac kill all Digimon]] alongside his subordinates [[VideoGame/DissidiaFinalFantasy Kefka Palazzo]], [[Manga/BoboboBobobobo Beauty]] and [[VideoGame/LANoire James Hopkins]], and his ultimate goal is to awaken the Demon Lord [[VideoGame/TeamSonicRacing Big the Cat]], merging with him to do so. He also uses Kirei's little half-sister [[Anime/{{FLCL}} Haruko Haruhara]] as leverage to force him to briefly join his side, though the alliance is short-lived as soon as Haruko is safe. Kaname's actions enrage [[WesternAnimation/BigGuyAndRustyTheBoyRobot Big Guy]], the Digital World's host computer whose true form is [[Manga/RaveMaster Plue]] and whose core is [[Manga/RurouniKenshin Megumi Takani]], who sends the Royal Knights including [[Manga/{{Naruto}} Kabuto Yakushi]], [[Series/WhoseLineIsItAnyway Brad Sherwood]], [[Anime/TransformersRobotsInDisguise Sky-Byte]], [[WesternAnimation/MegasXLR Grrkek the Planet Killer]], [[VideoGame/LifeIsStrange William Price]], and [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars Eeth Koth]] to wipe out humanity. Big Guy uses Raiden's father [[Anime/LupinIIITheItalianAdventure Leopold Fargo]] as a host, and Leopold's partner [[Franchise/BatmanArkhamSeries The Riddler]] joins the group to save him. Dendy also gets a partner named [[VideoGame/CastlevaniaCurseOfDarkness Trevor Belmont]]. DATS' director is [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid Psycho Mantis]]. Kirei's late mother was [[WesternAnimation/TheIncredibleHulk1996 Betty Ross]]. Kirei and Haruko's father is [[Anime/{{Bleach}} Genga]] and their grandmother is [[WesternAnimation/ElTigreTheAdventuresOfMannyRivera Sartana of The Dead]]. Rockna's biological parents are [[VideoGame/RedDeadRedemption Professor Harold MacDougal]] and [[Manga/AiYoriAoshi Aoi Sakuraba]].

However, the evil Digimon [[Franchise/LupinIII Daisuke Jigen]] had escaped from the fusion of [[Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureDiamondIsUnbreakable Anjuro "Angelo" Katagiri]] and [[VideoGame/Persona4 Kinshiro "King Moron" Morooka]] and is using Frieza to take over the world with the V-Pets. Sailor Moon's partner is [[VideoGame/SuikodenV Galleon]], the original V-Pet created after her dog was lost at sea, and the carrier of the antivirus needed to defeat the V-Pets. Zetsu, Leeron and Ben work together with Galleon to save Sailor Moon and Frieza from Daisuke, and the Angelo/King Moron fusion brings Yazoo, Po Kong, Luna and Ms. Winston to their location to help. Galleon, who by the end has reverted to [[Manga/BoboboBobobobo King Nosehair]], gives his life to stop Daisuke, allowing him to be defeated by Zetsu's team. Kai's grandfather is [[VideoGame/PacManAndTheGhostlyAdventures Sir Cumference]], and one of Daisuke's henchmen is [[Anime/MonColleKnights Professor Hiiragi]].
** In another movie, Lain is now [[WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra Old Toph]], Alpha 6 is now [[WesternAnimation/RainbowBrite Red Butler]], Soleil is now [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Arihnda Pryce]] and Zombeef is now [[Manga/ZatchBell Lori]]. ** In a movie, Mizuki is now Numbuh Zero full-time, while Alucard has not yet joined the group. Here, they come across a war between the human-like Digimon led by [[VideoGame/FireEmblemThreeHouses Edelgard von Hraesvelgr]] and [[Literature/SwordArtOnline Kuradeel]], and the beast-like Digimon led by [[WesternAnimation/TheAvengersEarthsMightiestHeroes Ant-Man]] and [[Anime/EagleRiders Cyberon]]. In reality, Edelgard and Ant-Man are [[Anime/FlintTheTimeDetective Rocky Hammerhead]], who plans to awaken an ancient evil from its imprisonment. With the help of [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid Meryl Silverburgh]] and [[Manga/LuckyStar Konata Izumi]], two ChildhoodFriends on the respective sides, Numbuh Zero's group manages to awaken the warriors that sealed the evil Digimon and defeat it and Rocky for good, but at the cost of Meryl's life.
