** Compared to the [[WesternAnimation/DuckTales1987 original show]]:
*** The creators have said this is what they want to do with Webby, who some fans of the original show found annoying or bland. The first trailer alone proves that - not only is Webby introduced with an amount of energy and spunk that the original was never shown with (also, holding a frickin' ''dagger''), eagle-eyed viewers will notice her trademark Quacky Patch doll in the same scene... '''stuck to the wall with an ARROW'''. That's proof enough on how the creators are serious about un-Scrappyfing Webby. Once the show premiered, viewers agreed that the creators got the job done and she's become a fan favorite.
*** The original Mrs. Beakley was never exactly ''hated'', but most people saw her as bland and forgettable. She had her badass moments and was never TheScrappy in the first place, just less noticed and less popular than other more prominent characters. The new opening shows quick scenes of her taking an active role in the group's adventures, including driving Scrooge's jeep and helping all three of the nephews up from a ledge, ''at the same time''! The fact that she does all of this with a stoic look on her face has made her new incarnation very popular with fans, who have also noticed her [[https://twitter.com/prozdkp/status/875041248909942787 enhanced physique]].
*** The original Gandra Dee was largely disliked by fans, as she was a FlatCharacter and SatelliteLoveInterest for Fenton who could often be insensitive towards him. This show gave her a redesign and re-worked her character into a punk independent scientist, which ended up being rather popular with the fans. [[spoiler:The reveal that she's a member of F.O.W.L. just increased the excitement as people struggled to figure out just what this could mean for her future appearances.]]
*** Bubba is an interesting case, as the character himself is basically the same (aside from being [[AdaptationalIntelligence smarter]] and gaining a more gorilla-like body), but the way he drives Huey nuts by refusing to conform to accepted ideas of what cave ducks were like is a very popular twist to his role that won over a lot of people who didn't care for him in the original series. [[spoiler:More so when he is revealed to be the first ancestor of the [=McDucks=].]]
*** The original Tootsie was an inaccurate [[AllAnimalsAreDogs dog-like]] [[DomesticatedDinosaurs dinosaur]] that, much like with the original Bubba, felt like an unnecessary addition to the cast. The show reworks her into a more realistic and badass ''Triceratops'', which was better-received. [[spoiler:Like the rebooted Bubba, her return to her original timeline ensured she didn't wear out her welcome.]]
*** Like Mrs. Beakley, Mama Fenton was considered more forgettable than truly hated. Reimagining her as a tough-as-nails cop was met with considerable enthusiasm.

*** While WesternAnimation/DaisyDuck has her fair share of fans, she often gets criticized for being an abrasive and often outright abusive girlfriend for Donald (especially in shows like ''WesternAnimation/LegendOfTheThreeCaballeros''). She is [[AdaptationalNiceGuy much nicer]] here (she still has a temper, but it's not targeted unfairly at Donald) and her relationship with him starts off at a much more equal footing, which was very well-received.

*** The heroics he performs in "Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System!", and his general characterization in that episode, seem to have redeemed Launchpad, whom many thought ''2017'' was characterizing as much too dumb and ditzy in comparison to the original portrayal, who ''was'' a goofball but also had his moments of outstanding competence or bravery that made him more of a BunnyEarsLawyer than just the really, really, really incompetent pilot/driver who Scrooge should most definitely fire (and/or send to a mental institution) that he was coming across as previously.
*** Mark Beaks gets a more threatening status as a villain after the events of "Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System!", and becomes a surprisingly fitting ArchEnemy to Gizmoduck.
*** Lena's early appearances led to a lot of complaints that she was a shoe-horned-in "cool" teen character drawing focus away from more established fan favorites. However, once her entire background and the full extent of her [[TheWoobie Woobie-dom]] became clear, she went from unpopular to one of the most popular new characters created for the show.
