* DefconFive: Averted: Fowler says the Pentagon is prepared to go Defcon One (the correct terminology) in response to New Kaon.

Missing his right arm, Megatron rallies his troops, damning Optimus for destroying their chance to revive Cybertron, and launches the invasion by ordering his Decepticons to transform and rise up. Starscream gleefully leads his new Seeker armada and the Insecticon hordes in the assault. The Autobots put up a desperate defense of their home, but Optimus orders a retreat into the base. Undeterred, Fowler [[MisfitMobilizationMoment proves his loyalty to his team]] and flies his helicopter straight into battle against the Decepticons. As the base is shaken by the attacking armies, Optimus announces to Ratchet and the kids that the Decepticons have found them. Outside, Fowler is quickly outgunned and cornered, but suddenly the ''Jackhammer'' streaks in to save his hide: Wheeljack arrives and joins the battle, declaring himself to always be on the same team as his surprised comrades.

* XanatosGambit: Megatron managed to secure a win in this episode, no matter what happens: He gives Optimus a choice to let the kids die amd watch the Autobot live with that, or give back the Omega Keys so he can restore Cybertron himself. He would have then be fine just ruling over Cybertron, but expands his ambitious by trying to cyberform Earth into a "New Kaon". Optimus prevents him from doing either and saves the kids while destroying the Omega Lock, leaving Cybertron desolate. With that out of the way, Megatron settles on a consolation prize: officially starting the invasion of Earth and ''finally'' destroying Autobot HQ upon discovering it.

* BreakingTheFellowship: Optimus orders Team Prime to scatter across the country to ensure that the Decepticons cannot find them.

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Miko have been complaining that she missed out on her chance to go to Cybertron when Jack was able to; Raf didn't have a problem of not going. Now, all three of them are on the planet together, but as hostages for the Decepticons.

* {{Hypocrite}}: For all of his rage towards Optimus for destroying the Omega Lock to save Earth, Ratchet seems to conveniently forget that Optimus would not have been forced to make the decision in the first place, if he had done as Miko suggested and picked the children up from school himself. But fortunate for Ratchet, nobody ever points out his wrongdoing.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: A case where the hero intentionally did it and stands by his decision. Optimus destroying the Omega Lock. He did it to save Earth, but doing so leaves Cybertron a dead world.

* [[IDidWhatIHadToDo Optimus Did What He Had to Do]]: "Right decision or wrong, what's done is done..."

** The first of these is whether to let the 'Cons expose Jack, Raf and Miko to Cybertron's toxic atmosphere, or give the Omega Keys over to Megatron and let him revive Cybertron in his image.
** Then he has to decide whether to destroy the Omega Lock and condemn Cybertron permanently or let Megatron terraform Earth in the image of the Decepticons, destroying the human race in the process. Hearing Jack and Miko cry of agony that their home planet is doomed, Optimus makes up his mind ''immediately'' to slice the Omega Lock.

* AnArmAndALeg: Optimus uses the Star Saber to slice off Megatron's appropriate Prime hand.
