The Fat Controller notices that Scruff's paint is getting rusty so he decides it's time he had a makeover. Scruff is sent to the Steamworks to be painted, but how can he stay shiny and clean working at the Waste Dump?

!!Tropes featured in the episode:
* AcquiredSituationalNarcissism: Scruff, after his new coat of paint garners him compliments from the other engines.
* AnAesop: It's important to be clean, but you shouldn't be obsessive over it otherwise you can't do your job.
* ADayInTheLimelight: For Scruff.
* JerkassHasAPoint: While all the other engines try to warn Scruff of his job, it is Gordon's more blunt advice that finally brings him back down to earth.
* LeaveMeAlone: None of the other engines want to switch jobs with Scruff.
* ThePigPen: Scruff, which pivots the plot.
* SeriousBusiness: After Scruff is cleaned up, he is determined not to get dirty once.
* WhatTheHellHero: Gordon delivers a light, matter of fact one to Scruff, setting off his HeelRealization:
-->'''Gordon:''' You may be shiny and clean, but if you don't do your job then you're not a really useful engine anymore.
