Egon is testing some machines on Slimer to try to make him itch, but it makes him laugh instead. Ray is nearby and the two of them discuss the experiment, while Peter is weightlifting to try and gain muscles so he can show off on the beach. When he adds too many weights, he's flung through the air, lands on Egon's machine, and is hit by a beam and knocked unconscious.

He wakes up in bed, glowing, and then he becomes very buff. When Ray and Slimer load some ghost traps into Ecto-1, Peter discovers that he's also become able to fly (though he lands clumsily). Then, they're called to a museum, but Peter flies instead of riding in the Ecto-1. The Ghostbusters are hesitant to shoot at the ghost because it's near some statues they don't want to break, so Peter grabs the ghost and throws it right into the trap.

This makes him famous, and people start calling him "Venk-Man" so he starts calling himself that. He basks in the glory to the ire of Winston, and even starts wearing a super suit. Egon determines the powers are temporary, so he assigns Slimer (who also wears a costume and goes by Super Spud) as Peter's sidekick to make sure he doesn't hurt himself when the powers go away.

The Ghostbusters are called to a zoo to deal with a giant rat ghost, which Peter beats up. Winston is still annoyed at Peter being a superhero, while Janine is annoyed at people phoning just to talk to "Venk-Man". Egon reveals that the device which gave Peter the powers is broken, meaning that the powers could go away at any moment. He reveals he tried to warn Peter, but Peter was too cocky to take it seriously.

Peter and Slimer, meanwhile, are trying to take on a ghost in the ironworks alone. Peter starts fighting the ghost, but his powers taper off. He's about to fall into a vat, and Slimer struggles to hold him back. Luckily, Winston and Ray show up, save the two, and trap the ghost. At home, Peter apologises for being rude, and they discuss ordering Peter and Slimer a pizza each.

!!This episode provides examples of
-----
* BadassInDistress: While Peter is no longer a superhero when he needs to be saved, he's still a Ghostbuster.
* BroughtToYouByTheLetterS: Peter and Slimer wear "V" and "S" respectively on their costumes.
* CallingYourNausea: When Winston, frustrated with Peter's fame, sees him on TV he says, "I think I'm gonna be sick".
* CapeSnag: When Peter is still getting used to wearing a cape, he trips on it.
* ADayInTheLimelight: This episode focuses on Peter, as he becomes a superhero.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: When fighting with the museum ghost, Peter insults it to its face.
* DireBeast: The rat ghost is about the size of a large dog.
* DistressedDude: Peter nearly falls into a vat and dies.
* FlyingBrick: Peter's powers are flying and super strength.
* FoodEnd: Downplayed -- the episode ends with Peter wanting to order food (namely one pizza for him and one for Slimer) but the episode ends before they can eat the pizza.
* GhostlyAnimals: One of the ghosts is a giant ghost rat.
* HowDoIShotWeb: Because Peter's powers don't last very long, he never really learns not to crash when he flies or break things with his super strength.
* {{Lietmotif}}: Exciting music plays whenever Peter does something superhero-like.
* MagicPants: While Peter's shirt rips off when his muscles grow, his pants stay intact.
* MythologyGag: Slimer is referred to as "Super Spud", referencing him being referred to as an "ugly little spud" in the movie.
* OhCrap: Peter looks nervous when his powers expire.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: Ray, despite being a GenkiGuy who likes superheroes, doesn't seem exited about Peter being one.
* PowerGlows: Played with -- Peter glows as he's gaining his powers, but also as he's losing them.
* {{Pun}}: One of the taunts Peter says to the museum ghost is "slime doesn't pay".
* RedIsHeroic: Peter's superhero cape is red.
* RevelingInTheNewForm: Peter loves how he's now ripped and able to fly.

* SayMyName: Slimer yells, "Peter!" when he's about to fall into a vat.
* StatusQuoIsGod: Peter's powers are temporary (though unlike most examples of this trope, we find out they will be before the end).
* TemporaryBulkChange: Peter gets very muscular to go with his super strength, but when the strength vanishes, so do the muscles.
* ThemeMusicPowerUp: The theme tune plays as Winston and Ray save Peter.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: Egon says in a deadpan way that it'd be bad news if Peter got in danger as his powers went.
* ShoutOut:
** Peter once calls himself the "Incredible Hunk", a parody on Franchise/TheIncredibleHulk.
** Peter appears on an ''Series/{{Oprah}}'' parody called ''Okrah''.
* {{Slapstick}}:
** Subverted when Peter is flung through the air and then lands on Egon's machine. At first it looks pretty funny, but then he's seen lying unconscious in bed and it's taken seriously.
** Played straight when Peter crashes whenever he flies and breaks things with his super strength.
* SuperheroEpisode: Once Peter gains super strength and the ability to fly, he decides to become a superhero, though most of his superhero acts are just doing his normal job in a showier way.
* SuperheroesWearCapes: Peter and Slimer's superhero costumes include capes.
* TermsOfEndangerment: When fighting the museum ghost, Peter calls it "pal".
