Kupitman locks Lobanov in storeroom, where he, to defeat his fear, promptly drinks himself to barely being able to talk... just in time for Lobanov's wife, Olga, to call him.
To get rid of too talkative patient for some time, Varya gives him sleep pills. When Bykov finds out and forces her to accept what she just tired of him, he tells her what if she spends too much time on one patient, she can be too late to save another. Then, he promises to free her from him... after one week.

After seeing depressed patient, Varya has argument with Bykov about patients: she thinks what Doctors must speak with them, so they wouldn't feel so lonely, while Bykov thinks this to be waste of time. Varya tries to help this patient, and succeeds in improving his mood... but while she worked with him, Bykov already deal with fourteen other patients. Unfortunately, now this patient would not leave Varya alone, driving her insane by his stories about his wife, Nina.
Lobanov meet his old friend, who needs to avoid army drafting. He asks Kupitman for help, whom redirects Semyon to Bykov. Lobanov is unaware what Kupitman has another "little play" for him. After Bykov scares the guy by pretending to cut his leg, Kupitman lies to Semyon what somebody warned the cops, and they are already here, after Lobanov.
