* ShoutOut to ''Series/PerryMason'': A lot of the evidence is presented late. "It's like Perry Mason here with all this late-arriving stuff," Judge Politi says.

Jeffrey Grant (Creator/HunterParrish), first seen in [[Recap/TheGoodWifeS5E07TheNextWeek "The Next Week"]], is on trial for the murder of Danni Littlejohn, a young woman and a student at the same university he attends. Finn Polmar (Creator/MatthewGoode) is a new prosecutor. Will defends Jeffrey Grant. Judge Thomas Politi (Creator/VincentCuratola) presiding.

Jeffrey Grant has been having trouble in jail. Will tells him he needs to hold it together.

Meanwhile, Alicia is in a good mood even after Cary tells her that he's "seeing" Kalinda. Nelson Dubeck (Creator/EricBogosian) from the Office of Public Integrity does however dampen Alicia's good mood. But when he asks whether Will is her lover, she realizes that the prosecutor is grasping at straws.

Jeffrey's parents call Alicia. She tries to reassure them that Jeffrey's in good hands with Will. Alicia goes to court and, as a professional courtesy, tells Will that Jeffrey's parents called her.

Eventually, Jeffrey just loses it, grabs a bailiff's gun and shoots at both the prosecutor and at Will, wounding the former and killing the latter.

Kalinda calls Alicia, but Eli (Creator/AlanCumming) has Alicia's phone. Alicia is at the main table for a Chicago Correspondents Club luncheon as a comedian makes several banal jokes. Eli doesn't want to interrupt Alicia, but Kalinda insists, disclosing that Will has died. Eli decides to pull Alicia away.
