* CouchGag: This episode's Open-Mic Host intro.
--> '''Open-Mic Host''': "Music/BlackSabbath, Music/IronMaiden and Molly Hatchet could not be here tonight, but they all had sex and are proud to announce the birth of their two-headed baby, Tenacious D." So Tenacious D.
* IntercourseWithYou: The song Tenacious D opens with is "Double Team", where Jack explains how the two of them will seduce you. Oddly enough, it actually convinces an audience babe to sleep with them, only for Jack to turn her down.

Added DiffLines:

* NoodleIncident: The act before Tenacious D's performance that night was a comedy act involving a man in-drag as a nun. He "killed" apparently.

!! "The Search for Inspirado" contains examples of:
* CouchGag: This episode features the first in a series-long RunningGag where the Open-Mic Host reads aloud the band's intro upon their request.
--> '''Open-Mic Host''': "Warning: If you want your asses blown-out, stay in the room." Ladies and gentlemen, Tenacious D.
* FriendshipSong: It was after Kyle leaves and Jack freaks out about it were they able to write the song "Kyle Quite the Band", based around their breakup and reconciliation.
* IAmGreatSong: "History" is a song about Jack and Kyles many alleged accomplishments.
--> ''Kyle's fingers be silver, Jacks voice then be gold''\\
''But lest you think we're vain''\\
''We know its open-mic night, we don't care''\\
''Tenacious D, we reign!''
* MadArtist: Jack gives a poetic Socratic idea of great songs coming from an unknown land named "Inspirado" (hence the title of the episode), their various eccentric activities throughout the episode them trying to attain Inspirado and thus write a new kick-ass song.
* OneHitWonder: InUniverse. Jack and Kyle have been singing their one song over and over again at open-mic night and the plot of the episode kicks off with the host calling them to tell them not to sing it again.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Sick of Jack's antics and all of their hard work with nothing to show for it, Kyle quits and storms off, leaving a distraught Jack. Turns out it was the perfect premise for the new song.
* ShoutOut: After Kyle leaves, Jack suffers a SanitySlippage and reenacts the Hotelroom Freakout Scene in ''Film/ApocalypseNow'', complete with punching a mirror in his underwear.
* SwallowedAFly: Jack accidentally does this when explaining Inspirado to the audience.
* WritersBlock: The whole episode is surrounded around the basis of Jack and Kyle trying to write a new song.

!! "Angel in Disguise" contains examples of:
* BaitAndSwitch: Kyle supposedly dying from a bullet wound transitions to Jack singing song in dedication of him, only to reveal that the bullet-proof friendship medallion Jack gave him saved his life, the twist having been written into the song.
* ChekhovsGun: The friendship medallion Jack gave Kyle at the beginning of the episode is what protects Kyle from the burglar's gun-shot, being made of bullet-proof lead.
* JerkassBall: Kyle tries to seduce Flarna, a girl that Jack has been trying to ask out for some time. He claims that he did this because loved her, but he only found out about her the night before when Jack told him when he confessed his feelings over her to him and has only actually interacted with her for a literal minute. Even if they have the same "type" or whatever, that is seriously a dick move to do to your best (lets face it, ''only'') friend.
* MartialArtsAndCrafts: When Jack finds Kyle is trying to seduce the girl he likes, they devolve into an over-the-top {{Wuxia}}[=-style=] fight, including them [[CallingYourAttacks Calling Their Attacks]] (with Asian characters showing on screen) and impossible physics, including Kyle flying with a paper bag, Jack pinning Kyle to a phone-line with loose change and Jack ''[[OffWithHisHead knocking Kyle's head off]]''.
