The night of Richmond's loss against Manchester City, a dispirited Coach Beard returns to his apartment. There, he hallucinates that the television sports announcers, Thierry Henry and Gary Lineker are commenting on his mental health. Beard visits the Crown and Anchor, where he is joined by regulars and avid Richmond supporters Baz, Jeremy and Paul. After the pub closes, the four sneak into an exclusive basement club, Bones and Honey. There, Beard rips his pants and is thrown out, alone. Beard accompanies Mary, an attractive woman at the club, back to her apartment so she can fix his pants. While she is doing this, he is given a shiny, star-studded pair of pants to wear. Beard is forced to flee, still in the borrowed pants, from Mary's hulking boyfriend Darren, who assumes Beard is her lover. Beard is soon cornered in the street and beaten by James Tartt, Jamie's father, and his friends. Darren saves him, having followed him so he could return Beard's wallet and phone, left at Mary's home. Beard is horrified to find a string of angry, unanswered texts from Jane, with whom he is still in love. Beard is brought home by Baz, Jeremy and Paul who had hired a limo with the money they won playing pool at the private club. He thanks them for the ride, giving them the address of a secret entrance to Nelson Road, Richmond's home stadium, to the fans' delight. After his apartment key breaks in the lock during a rainstorm, Beard stumbles across a church where Jane previously claimed to be. He discovers a secret nightclub in the church's basement. He meets Jane and enjoys a night of music and dance with her. The following morning, a sleep-deprived Beard returns to work as usual with his fellow coaches.
