* {{Irony}}: When Eggman is actively ''trying'' to make himself angry, all his attempts fail one after the other... which makes him angry at how he can't get angry, enough to finally trigger his transformation.

* RaceAgainstTheClock: When Beth accidentally falls down Eggman's trash chute, it is so narrow that not even his most sphelt robot can fit in it. He has no choice but to get himself angry so that he can transform into the cute creature and be small enough to fit in the trash chute to rescue Beth before the trash compactor crushes her. However, the effects of the purple ray will permanenty wear off in thirteen minutes unless he can get angry.

The forty-eighth episode of the second season of ''WesternAnimation/SonicBoom''.

!! This episode provides examples of:

* CordonBleughChef: Beth the Shrew bakes some cookies for Eggman because she felt bad that everyone in Hedgehog Village was teasing him. When Eggman tries one, he finds they taste terrible. Beth then tells Eggman that since she ran out of baking soda, she used toothpaste. In a later scene, Sonic doesn't the cookies, either.
* EnemyMine: After Sonic overhears about Beth's predicament from Orbot and Eggman is finally able to transform into the cute creature to save her, he wastes no time rushing Eggman back to his lair.
* ExtremelyOverdueLibraryBook: In this episode, Dr. Eggman is unable to check out a book on biotechnology from the library due to his library card having been revoked, the reason being because he checked out a copy of ''Savage Passions' Gutamanana Heat'' and never returned it.
* HulkMashUp: In this episode, the in-universe ''Clunk'' comic book stars Bruce Bandicoot, a Bruce Banner expy, who, from tripping over a wire and being exposed to purple rays, mutates into the Unenviable Clunk, a purple muscular version of Bruce with green pants.
* HypocriticalHumor: When Eggman finds out that the effects of the purple ray wear off permanently 48 hours after the last transformation, he comes to Amy's Anger Management Class. This exchange occurs:
-->'''Eggman:''' ''You're'' teaching Anger Management? Aren't you just a powder keg of emotions just waiting to explode?\\
'''Amy:''' NO! [[IResembleThatRemark I'M THE PERSONIFICATION OF SERENITY, YOU INSENSITIVE LOUT!]]
* MythologyGag: When Eggman returns to his normal state after the effects of the purple ray wear off, he says that he can't remember anything, just like his weekend in [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2 Casino Night Zone]].
-->'''Cubot''': What happens in Casino Night Zone stays in Casino Night Zone!
* OvercomplicatedMenuOrder: When Eggman needs to get angry so he can transform into a cute creature in time to save Beth from being crushed by his trash compactor before the effects of the purple ray permanenty wear off, he goes to Meh Burger and orders two double Meh Burgers with extra pickles on one, an order of lightly fried humdrum rings, and a large cola, half-diet, half-regular, and light on the ice, sure that Dave will get it wrong. To his dismay, Dave gets the order both correct and on time for once.
-->'''Dave:''' A broken clock's bound to be right twice a day. By the way, do you have the time? My clock's broken.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: When Eggman finds out that his library card has been revoked because he checked out a copy of ''Savage Passions' Gutamanana Heat'' and never returned it, he exclaims "That's preposterous! I've never heard of that book! And even if I had read it, who would believe that Eloise would leave Juan Pablo for a mysterious billionaire?"
* TemptingFate: This line from Eggman when he finds out the effects of the purple ray will wear off permanently in fifteen minutes:
-->'''Eggman:''' Nothing's going to stop me now. ''(Beth knocks on the door)'' Oh, good, a last-minute complication.
* VillainousRescue: Near the end of this episode, Beth accidentally falls into Eggman's trash compactor. Since Beth was kind enough to let him use her library card to check out books on biotechnology after his was revoked and gave him cookies to cheer him up after everyone teased him, he decides to return the favor by saving her, which requires him to get angry so that he can fit down the trash chute.
* TheWallsAreClosingIn: As Eggman tries unsuccessfully to get angry before the effects of the purple ray wear off, the walls of his trash compactor begin to close in, leaving Beth in danger of being crushed.
