The gang reunites and decides to break into a museum, which serves two purposes; scratches Parisian museum to scratch Sly's kleptomaniac itch, and allows them but learn that they need to travel back in time to stop the erasing erasure of the Thievius Raccoonus.Raccoonus through the discovery of an ancient dagger.

* CentralTheme: All three members of the Cooper Gang make mistakes during their first thieving attempt in years; however, the gang’s trust in each other never went away, and they show support for each other despite their mistakes.
** Sly accidentally knocks over a telephone pole during his initial ascent to the top of the museum; Bentley is concerned for him, but Sly is confident that the heist will go off without a hitch.
** Bentley almost falls onto a silent alarm while trying to hack the security systems, and narrowly avoids his demise using his robotic arms at the last second. When Sly asks him how the hacking is going, Bentley feigns confidence despite being shaken by the incident.
** Murray is eventually outnumbered and overwhelmed by the rat goons, but quickly overcomes his frustration and announces he’s feeling fine to a rather confused Bentley.

* ContrivedCoincidence: The fact that Sly was planning a heist for the Paris Museum originally had nothing to do with the artifact Bentley needed for his time-machine. Sly just wanted to do a heist to satisfy his thieving instincts.
