Organisms have been viewed walking through the glass, albeit only en masse due to their relatively small size. They appear to be humanoid and dark red in color, though due to their seemingly advanced level of technology, the running theory among researchers is that this coloration is the result of their clothing. The glass has been observed to have begun to begin deteriorating, and the Foundation is currently unsure of what could happen upon complete deteiroration.

The changes include finger nails, toenails and skin becoming brittle and growing at an increased rate, skin cancer, skin, hair and mouths growing in random locations, and the victim's skin killing and eating other creatures.

Unless they forcibly restrained, these people will ultimately harm or even kill themselves in their attempts to emulate my standard functions, often by stuffing themselves to the bursting point with bread.

Chirurg behaves in a surprisingly pleasant manner most of the time, enjoying lengthy conversations about science, biology, and politics, as well as games of chess. However, when one of his organs begins to fail, or a part of his body becomes necrotic, he undergoes a drastic personality shift, stalking and observing people from a distance and aiming to steal parts of their bodies to replaced those that are damaged. Chirurg is able to passively sense the medical status of humans within several meters of him, and admits that he uses the process, which he doesn't entirely understand himself, to pick out his victims.
