* DiabolusExMachina: From the heroes' perspective, outside their singular encounter with the remote coven, there has been no indication of magic or the supernatural in their adventures so far, and Spear and Fang thoroughly decimated all the viking raiders, leaving nobody alive to hunt them down for revenge or to recapture Mira. Just when they're settling down and starting to build a new life in peace amongst Mira's community, thanks to the otherwise-uninvolved [[GreaterScopeVillain Scorpion]], the Chieftain returns as a flaming MagmaMan, [[InvincibleVillain utterly invincible]] and beyond their ability to combat such an [[OutsideGenreFoe unknown foe]], requiring Spear to eventually [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifice himself]] to stop him destroying everything, even when he'd all but been guaranteed a happy ending.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: The flashback to Spear's original tribe raises more questions than answers. The last we see of them is the survivors fastening his father's necklace on him, suggesting that he's their new leader -- yet by the first episode of the series, Spear no longer has the necklace, and lives only with his wife and their children, with seemingly no other humans of his species seen for the rest of the show.

[[DeathWorld Considering what we've seen of Spear's world in other episodes however, their fate is easy to deduce.]]
