Paperinik is still dealing with Ducklair's devices, whose presence is ultimately making the entire population nervous. Furthermore Hobey, Profunda's closest follower, shows the amazing but haunting ability to read other people's minds over a massive scale, ability he intends to use for his plans. Is this tied to the Ducklair Devices?

* ActuallyPrettyFunny: When Ducklair witness PK's futile attempts to control the devices from the outside he finds him funny enough to think that he may not be the threat he feared.
* AssholeVictim: Hobey uses his powers to blackmail a senator who has, apparently, some serious dirty stuff to hide. When the latter thinks the former's a petty thief, Hobey replies he's not better than him.
* BewareTheMindReader: Once Hobey gets the grasp on his telepathy, he proceeds to rob a criminal and later to blackmail a powerful and corrupted politician. Left unchecked he could have been a serious threat. Also, Lyonard mentions the time Astrongman fought a rogue hero with hi-tech telepathic powers.
* BlessedWithSuck: At first, Hobey's abilities are terrifying to him, as his friends thinks he's going insane and the number of voices he hears is so staggering he faints at one point.
* BreakTheCutie: When Rupert sees twice Stella with Donald (in one case giving him a massage), he looks devastated.
* BroughtDownToNormal: Hobey's powers seems connected to the turrets: when the last one goes kaboom, he loses all his mind-reading powers.
* TheCloudCuckooLanderWasRight: When suggesting a possible reason why Donald looks so tired, among various things Stella suggests that the new receiver dishes installed by Ducklair are interfering with the city's electromagnetic field or something. Well, they are interfering with the city...
* TheChessmaster: In the end, Ducklair, to such an extent even Anymore Boring, his right hand man, is left stunned. Despite his attempts to pacify the population of Duckburg and appear harmless, the people are still wary and go as far as to use brute force to remove them. Ducklair's answer? [[spoiler: Let them. The important part of the machine were the unseen wires, so he can afford to have the turrets destroyed so that the people are at ease and he doesn't really lose anything.]]
* ADayInTheLimelight: Hobey went from a forgettable lackey to Profunda to a BigBadWannabe.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: On Everett's order, their appearence must follow three concepts: they must look reassuring, reassuring and most of all, reassuring.

* DidntSeeThatComing: Not even Everett could foresee someone else hijacking his telepathic network. He looks genuinely surprised when Hobey is able to use his powers to forcefully activate the last station's defensive drones.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Rupert wrongfully thinking that Donald and Stella are in a relationship behind his back. This will be continued in the following issue.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Hobey used to be a brilliant engineer who was sacked when he was deemed as "too expensive" to keep. He lost all his money trying to sue the company and became a homeless vagrant until he fell under Profunda's influence. When he gets ahold of his powers, he tries to ascend to richness again by blackmailing a corrupt senator.
* GranolaGirl: Downplayd, though Stella's interests in Feng Shui, massages and other new age stuff seems to imply she veers towards this disposition.
* HearingVoices: What Hobey thinks he's suffering from. It's actually a sign he's unlocked telepathic powers.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Angus is throwing mud on Ducklair, but after the turret's explosion (unwillingly caused by PK), he denounce the presence of such dangerous structures in a city.
* KickTheDog: When Rupert is shocked to see Stella and Donald together and assumes the worst Fitzroy is there... to fuel his fears.
* ILetYouWin: Donald's attempts to sabotage the turrets are always foiled, but when an entire mob targets them... no defensive system is activated. [[spoiler: After all, as explained before, the turrets aren't vital.]]
* MundaneUtility: According to Lyo, Astrongman's anti-psychic skullcap not only can shield the user's mind from mind-reading, but is sturdy enough to work against a TapOnTheHead.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: In two different occasions, Rupert stumbles on Stella and Donald being seemingly a little too close to each other. However, he has no interest in her and she was just trying to be helpful.
* PetTheDog: The homeless person with Hobey in the beginning looks worried for him and even tells him not to listen to the voices in a worried voice. Later his former co-worker is nice enough to talk to him like an old friend and offer him breakfast.
* PsychicBlockDefense: In order to prevent mind reading from the turret's defensive systems, PK has to wear the special helmet made for the former superhero Astrongman. It works, apparently.
* RunningGag: During the climax, [[ThoseTwoGuys two people]] try to take down the current from the turrent with an axe... with each attempt usually ending up shorting a different thing entirely.
* StuffBlowingUp: PK's second attempt to defuse the security system of the turrets ends up with the turret blowing up in his face. All the turrets, in fact, can do that.
* {{Telepathy}}: As mentioned in [[Recap/PK2S2E4MemoryLines Issue 4]], the turrets allow Everett to do this to the entire Duckburg, but Hobey, thanks to his contact with Profunda, can do it as well.
* TorchesAndPitchforks: In the end, PK encourages a mob of Duckburgers to destroy the dangerous turrets themselves.
* TouchedByVorlons: It's highly implied that being Profunda's second in command is what allowed Hobey to awaken his mind-reading powers.
* WinsByDoingAbsolutelyNothing: [[spoiler: Everett, as mentioned under TheChessmaster. He didn't lose anything and the people were pacified, all without him lifting a single finger.]]
* YouShallNotPass: In the climax, Hobey, realizing that his telepathy is fading, defends the last turrets and manages to activate the defenses to attack the mob with drones.
