Lynette Bishop is checking supplies at the port of Calais when a young boy named Julius, accused of thievery, runs into her. It turns out the boy stole a bottle of medicine for his younger sister Rose who is suffering from malnutrition. Bishop takes the siblings the Perrine Clostermann's manor where they get medical care and Perrine offers to take care of them. Regardless, Julius takes a dislike to Perrine and proceeds to torment her with a variety of pranks. One day, while seeing the Noble Witches fly overhead, Julius reveals his past and his hatred for witches. Julius and Rose were from the Dutch city of Arnhem and forced to evacuate as the Neuroi approached. Their father was a member of the Dutch Resistance and held back to defend Arhem Bridge from the Neuroi until an incoming squadron of witches were to relieve them. The witches were late and he was killed along with many others during the loss of Arnhem. Perrine privately expresses her wish to keep their true nature as witches a secret from the children, but it gets out when bricks from her crumbling home fall towards Julius and Amelie Planchard must use her shield to protect him. A furious Julius runs away and sneaks onboard a supply truck headed for Arnhem Base. He leaves to go his former home where he finds his toy bear and other personal effects, when he is suddenly attacked by a Neuroi. Perrine saves him, but they must flee through the streets of Arnhem from an army of Neuroi. They are cut off by a giant Neuroi at Arnhem Bridge and Perrine is wounded in the leg. She tells Julius to run while she makes a last stand in a basement as a distraction, but Bishop arrives with her Striker Unit that she picked up at Arnhem Base and forces the Neuroi to retreat to a water tower. Bishop shoots the tower above the Neuroi drenching it and Perrine uses Tonnere to electrocute it. Afterwards, Perrine decides to adopt Julius and Rose. Sometime later they receive a letter from Yoshika Miyafuji letting them know she has been accepted to a medical school in Helvetia and she is coming to visit in three weeks.
