* A discussion among the members of [=CP9=] reveals that a person who ate more than one Devil Fruit would die from two 'devils' fighting inside them. But Marshall D Teach, who possess the Dark-Dark Fruit, used an unknown method during the Marineford Arc to steal Whitebeard's Tremor-Tremor Fruit powers after killing him.
* Robin's past which was foreshadowed since the Alabasta Arc is finally revealed alongside the World Government's obsession to conceal all information relating to the origins during Blank Century. While undertones of corruption and oppression have been shown in the World Government from the start, later arcs reveal that it was founded by twenty royal families who annihilated an Ancient Kingdom. Only the descendants of nineteen of those family currently influenced the world for centuries while the Marines serve as their enforcers. This evil image becomes the bridge to introducing Dragon and his Revolutionaries in the following arc.

* New information about Devil Fruits is revealed during this arc by the members of [=CP9=]. They revealed that if a person ate more than one Devil Fruit, then the two 'devils' that are said to live inside the user would kill them. However, Marshall D Teach used an unknown method during the Marineford Arc to be able to use not only the Yami Yami no Mi, but Whitebeard's Gura Gura no Mi after killing him.
* Robin's past which was foreshadowed since the Arabasta Arc is finally revealed, as well as more of the Void Century, and at the same time, the history of the World Government. There once existed an Ancient Kingdom defeated by its enemies, attributed to be the World Government, indicating that it is more ruthless than it seems. While undertones of corruption and oppression have been shown in the World Government and the Marines from the beginning, from this arc onward, the World Government's malevolent insinuations are now seen as the norm rather than the exception. This evil image becomes the bridge to introducing Dragon and the Revolutionaries in the following arc.

* DramaticSpineInjury: Throughout the arc, Spandam gleefully abuses Robin at every single opportunity he gets. That is why, near the very end of the arc, when [the Straw Hats are escaping from the Marines, Robin uses one last opportunity to use her [[MultiArmedAndDangerous Flower-Flower Fruit]] to get back at Spandam and snap his spine in two.

** Even Spandine, who's a complete jackass like his son, is horrified when Akainu destroys the ship full of Oharan civilians.

* TearsOfJoy: As the five-dotted flag burns in the sky and as the memories flash right before her eyes, Robin can do little more than burst into tears, having realized that she had finally found her place in life.\

* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: The Buster Call, the most powerful attack that the Marines can commission on any one target. Comprising of ten battleships commanded by five Vice-Admirals, the attack force will not discriminate, rendering entire islands down to fiery wastelands in order to destroy "enemies of justice". The sheer power of a Buster Call is so terrifying that Nico Robin was willing to surrender herself to the government she had been fleeing from her ''entire life'' just to spare the Straw Hats the fate of facing one. So powerful that it is used as sparingly as possible, and can only be ordered by ten people in the world at any given time: the three admirals, the Fleet Admiral, the Commander-in-Chief, and the Gorosei (Five Elders), all of whom have the authority to issue a Buster Call either directly or through a proxy holding their golden Transponder Snail. In fact, it's implied that the only reason Spandam had the golden Transponder Snail is because he ''stole it'' from Admiral Aokiji, who, [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure knowing him]], would never use something like that just to eradicate a small pirate crew.
