** Dr. Vegapunk's message about how the world will eventually sink into the Blue Sea has been foreshadowed:foreshadowed for a ''long'' time:
*** In chapter 161, Vivi talks about the geography of Alabasta, explaining that one of the reasons why Crocodile's plans with the drought crisis is working is that the Sandora river that used to nourish the land with fresh water is being pushed by by the sea, resulting in salt water permeating the land instead, showing that the sea level is slowly rising.

** Dr. Vegapunk's message about how the world will eventually sink into the Blue Sea has been foreshadowed:
*** During the Reverie Arc, on their way to Imu's chamber, the Five Elders discuss current affairs, with Saint Nusjuro bringing up the probability that they'll need to carry out a global cleansing if things get too far out of their control.
*** In Chapter 1089, six days after the World Government wiped out Lulusia Kingdom, earthquakes cause the sea level to rise about one meter.

* MortonsFork: When Bonney overrides all the Kuma Pacifistas with her command, which was programmed to be even above the orders of the Five Elders, they start annihilating the Marine battleships surrounding Egghead. The Marine officers are reluctant to fight back because the Pacifistas are their own weapons and ''very'' expensive to produce, each more so than a battleship. So whether or not they destroy the Pacifistas or let the Pacifistas destroy the battleships, they're suffering massive losses to their armaments either way. However, Saint Nusjuro is able to use his sword slashes to freeze the circuits of the Pacifistas, disabling them without destroying them.

** A rare villainous example. In Chapter 1113, St. Markus Mars is about to smash Vegapunk's special transponder snail will less than a minute to go before his boradcast starts... only for it to be revealed that it was a decoy and that Veegapunk was one step ahead of the Elders this entire time. Cue a full-on VillainoutBreakdown as the Elders scramble to find the source before Vegapunk can reveal too much.

* HowDareYouDieOnMe: Caesar Clown is quite peeved when he learns of Vegapunk's death, as he and Judge wanted to one-up him as the world's greatest scientists before that happened.

* NationsOfTheWorldMontage: A short montage showing some of the countries of the world is shown when Vegapunk's message starts.

** The Elder Stars also underestimate Dr. Vegapunk. Saturn in particular proclaimed to be able to see through any tricks Vegapunk would pull to [[ExactWords twist his orders]] in ways to go against the spirit of said orders, such as installing a self destruct device into Kuma. Turns out, Vegapunk was able not fulfill this request without having Kuma turn into a human explosive, the self destruct just being a shutdown switch. When the Elders go in to kill Vegapunk, they never anticipated that he would plan for this possibility by setting up a prerecorded broadcast sharing what he learned about the Void Century to the entire world that would air if his heart stopped. They also weren't expecting Vegapunk to make Bonney the highest authority in the Pacifistas's cabin of command, nor that he set up multiple decoys of the broadcasting equipment to prevent them from stopping it.

* DecoyHidingPlace: The Transponder Snail that's broadcasting Vegapunk's DeadmansSwitch message is seemingly found by Mars where York though it was...only for it to be a decoy. Mars then finds to his shock Vegapunk didn't just hide one decoy, but ''tons of them'' all over Egghead to make finding the real one nigh impossible..

* RaceAgainstTheClock: Role-inverted. Vegapunk's post-mortem recording will reveal the truth about the world in ten minutes, forcing Saturn to try to end the broadcast ASAP, going so far as to summon the other Four Elders.
