Incredibly Lame Pun is a redirect and not a trope by itself.

* IncrediblyLamePun: When Doug offers to make the Main 3 some egg salad sandwiches, he leaves Ms. O's office with a "time to egg-secute!"

Not an example of this trope not sure what it fits.

* WorldOfCardboardSpeech: Otis gives a short but effective one to Olympia when she begins to lose hope that they won't make it to Rookie Night in time.
--> '''Otis:''' ''Listen to me,'' rookie! ''[points to his chest]'' This rookie, right here...this rookie is not going to let- ''[points to Olympia's chest]'' ''that'' rookie miss Rookie Night!
--> '''Olympia:''' You're saying "rookie" too much.

* WorldOfCardboardSpeech: Doug delivers one to Fladam and Lady Bread that manages to make them cease their arguing for good.
--> '''Doug:''' Let me tell you something about the people who order ''my'' egg salad sandwiches. Sometimes, all they talk about is the chunky texture of the eggs. Sometimes all they talk about is the sour taste of the mayonnaise.
--> '''Fladam:''' Is mayonnaise supposed to be sour?
--> '''Doug:''' ''[as Lady Bread opens her mouth to speak]'' The point is, it's not about the eggs, or about the mayonnaise. It's about the way they work together, as a team, to create a beautiful, tasty sandwich!
--> '''Lady Bread:''' ''[looking surprised]'' I don't think Delivery Doug is talking about sandwiches at all!
--> '''Fladam:''' I think he's talking...about ''us!''
--> ''[the Main 3 smile]''
--> '''Doug:''' N-no, I'm...totally talking about sandwiches.
--> ''[the Main 3 give him various "shut up" gestures]''
* VillainTeamUp: Lady Bread takes Delivery Doug's WorldOfCardboardSpeech to mean that she and Fladam should team up and create oddness together, to which the other villain happily accepts. Doug can't even try and clarify his speech, as they refuse to listen to him, and end up walking out of the office with their arms wrapped around each other, going off to create oddness. Doug is left absolutely ''floored'' and doesn't even ''try'' to stop them. However, the Main 3 are quick to give him a healthy combined dose of "what the hell are you thinking?"

Olympia and Otis have to help Delivery Doug make sandwiches while helping Ms. O with Fladam and Lady Bread's argument over who the oddest villain is.

----
!!Tropes:

* {{Ahem}}: Doug gives one when Ms. O is explaining the strategy for settling the two villains' argument to Olympia and Otis.
* ArchEnemy: Randall and Doug appear to be this to each other, which is fitting, considering that Doug was the one who laid Randall off from his job at the former's back-alley restaurant.
* BigNo: Randall does one when Olympia and Otis manage to cross the finish line first.
* BlatantLies: When Doug notes that negotiations between the two villains isn't going so well, Ms. O assures him that she has it under control. By the time Olympia and Otis get back from the egg race, it's clear that the Director has the situation ''far'' from being under control.
* BubbleGun: Ms. O is using one at the beginning of the episode.
* TheCoatsAreOff: Played with, as Olympia doesn't have her coat off in preparation for a fight -- rather, she has it off to help Doug with carrying the barrels of egg salad into the interrogation room.
* CallBack: Randall, the goat working under Doug to make eggs at his back-alley restaurant who was laid off in [[Recap/OddSquadS2E15OIsForOppositeAgentOksanasKitchenNightmares "O is For Opposite"]], is revealed to have started a secret egg-racing club following his layoff.
* CheatersNeverProsper: Doug isn't allowed to compete in egg races anymore due to the fact that he cheated in a race by taping an egg to a spoon. As a result, Otis and Olympia end up competing in his place.
* ChekhovsGunman: Doug ends up being the third party who stops Fladam and Lady Bread's argument. Unfortunately, this has consequences in the terms of Fladam and Lady Bread teaming up to stop oddness instead, which doesn't please ''any'' of the Main 3.
* ColdOpen: Once again, the trope is averted, as the episode opens with Olympia and Otis walking into Ms. O's office.
* ConflictBall: The plotline of Fladam and Lady Bread's argument aside, Olympia and Otis both take ahold of it briefly when both have differing opinions on who is the better villain. Otis votes for Lady Bread while Olympia votes for Fladam, and the two argue about the villains' qualities before Ms. O interrupts them and ceases their arguing.
* ContinuityNod: Ms. O's cube, which has some of her face expressions on it, makes a re-appearance after debuting in [[Recap/OddSquadS1E19HoldTheDoorFlatastrophe "Flatastrophe"]]. In a twist of {{Irony}}, Fladam -- the villain featured in that episode -- flattens the cube himself.
** The donut shop owner, who was last seen in [[Recap/OddSquadS1E6OscarAndTheOscarbotsPictureDay "Oscar and the Oscarbots"]], makes a [[TheCameo cameo appearance]] as one of the people participating in an egg race, wanting eggs in order to make cupcakes.
* DelayedReaction: Doug explains that he's out of mayonnaise. When Olympia guesses that he's asking her to help him make some, Doug says that no, that's crazy; he gets his from the laundromat. As he leaves, Olympia smiles as though in agreement before her smile turns into a frown a second later as she tries to process what Doug just told her.
* DisapprovingLook: All of the Main 3 give Doug one each after he gives his speech to the two villains, who take it as him telling them to team up and cause oddness -- [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/oddsquad/images/4/4f/Dl_wltdo.png/revision/latest?cb=20200815233615 and they only grow more disapproving]] after he offers them some egg salad sandwiches as an apology.
* EtherealChoir: One is heard while Doug is giving his WorldOfCardboardSpeech.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Randall's translator collar causes him to develop a deep baritone voice -- fitting for someone running the TV-Y, Odd Squad-esque equivalent of an underground illegal fighting ring. When {{Overcrank}} is used, it gets even ''deeper.''
* EvilVsEvil: One of the plotlines of the episode revolves around two villains, Fladam and Lady Bread, fighting each other over who is the better villain (with Olympia and Otis even getting in on who's better at one point). By the end of the episode, they learn that working together and teaming up will benefit both of them, and they both leave to create more oddness, no thanks to Doug, a fellow client who is seeking Odd Squad's help.
* FacePalm: Ms. O -- and to an extent, Olympia -- both do one at the end of the episode after being offered one egg salad sandwich each.
* FeudEpisode: One of the plots of the episode revolves around Fladam and Lady Bread arguing over who is the oddest villain.
* FightClubbing: The secret egg-racing club is presented like one of these, where people must race in order to obtain and keep their eggs. It's also presented as something of an underground illegal club, with the illegality being parodied, natch.
* GoodLuckCharm: Ms. O's cube, which was featured [[Recap/OddSquadS1E19HoldTheDoorFlatastrophe before]] as having her favorite "memories" on it (read: various face expressions), is apparently this, as she refers to it as her lucky cube. Unfortunately, Fladam ends up flattening it, [[BreakTheCutie which upsets Ms. O.]]
--> '''Ms. O:''' ''[despaired and sad]'' That's my lucky cube...
* HiddenDepths: Olympia appears to be quite skilled at making bread. [[note]] Let's be honest, we're surprised that Doug even knows how to ''make'' bread to begin with.[[/note]]
** Doug also proves himself to be a GadgeteerGenius as he made Randall a "goat-to-human voice machine" in order to communicate with him. Otis bewilderingly asks him how he can do that, and yet, he can't make a sandwich by himself.
* IncrediblyLamePun: When Doug offers to make the Main 3 some egg salad sandwiches, he leaves Ms. O's office with a "time to egg-secute!"
* InsaneTrollLogic: There is some ''incredibly'' flawed and zany logic behind the making of Doug's egg salad sandwiches.
** He keeps his egg salad sandwiches on the floor of the basement...in order to keep them cool. Even ''Olympia and Ms. O'' fail to see the logic behind that.
** He only uses the two middle slices of an ''entire loaf of bread'' for his sandwiches, despite the rest of the loaf he shows Olympia looking just as delicious. When she asks him why, he responds in kind with, "They're the squishiest!"
** He uses an ''entire jar of mayonnaise'' to make ''two sandwiches'' (meaning he would have to use ''half a jar'' for each sandwich). To make his twenty sandwiches, he needs ten jars of mayonnaise...which is kept inside of a washing machine at a dry-cleaning place owned by a woman named Linda.
** He never changes the water stored in the barrels he has that he uses to boil the eggs themselves, citing that it locks in their flavor.
** And to top it all off, some of the ingredients are apparently SecretIngredients, and Doug's egg salad recipe is a secret recipe despite many finding it completel unappetizing. For Pete's ''sake,'' Doug, it's just egg salad...
* LowerDeckEpisode: The episode primarily focuses on Doug, while having a separate plotline with Fladam and Lady Bread.
* ManMadeHouseFlood: Doug's basement was flooded with an inch of water due to a time portal being shut down, rendering his sandwiches inedible. As a result, he comes to Odd Squad for their assistance, using Headquarters as a temporary site to make sandwiches.
* MediationBackfire: Subverted when Ms. O interrupts Fladam and Lady Bread's argument by saying that everyone can agree that they are both odd villains. Instead of both of the villains turning on her, Fladam genuinely thanks her...before going right back to arguing with Lady Bread.
** The trope is played straight, however, when Olympia enters Ms. O's office and apologizes for being late. However, as she gets in between the two villains, both of them target ''her'' and use her as a third party for their argument, asking her who is the oddest villain. Olympia begins to say that she thinks they're both odd, but Doug soon arrives and asks for her help again, to which she walks out of the office. Once Doug sets an egg timer and leaves, the two villains begin arguing again.
** It ends up averted entirely when Doug ends up StandingBetweenTheEnemies and manages to stop their quarrel by giving them a few words of encouragement. However, neither villain turns on him.
* {{Metaphorgotten}}: After Olympia and Doug make 20 loaves of bread, this exchange ensues before they get to work cutting them.
--> '''Doug:''' Let the egg salad games begin!
--> '''Olympia:''' There's games?
--> '''Doug:''' There's no games.
--> '''Olympia:''' Oh, okay.
* MinimalistCast: Aside from the competitors in the egg race and Linda, a woman who runs a nearby laundromat who houses Doug's mayonnaise, only the Main 4 (minus Oona), Doug, Fladam and Lady Bread get prominent roles.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Doug's speech about egg salad sandwiches spurs Lady Bread and Fladam to team up with each other to create oddness. Needless to say, none of the Main 3 are happy about it and grow angry at Doug, but when he offers to make them egg salad sandwiches as a way of saying sorry, they become completely exasperated.
* NowThatsUsingYourTeeth: Aside from holding 8 eggs each in their hands, Olympia and Otis carry 2 eggs on 2 spoons each that they keep secure using their teeth.
* {{Overcrank}}: Used throughout the entirety of the egg race.
* SacredHospitality: Played with. While Doug doesn't necessarily need a place to stay, he ''does'' need a place to keep running his business, which Ms. O grants to him in the form of using an interrogation room and assigning Olympia to help him out. Unfortunately, his repeated interruptions grate on all of the Main 3's nerves.
* SeriesContinuityError: Dialogue exchanged at the beginning of the episode in regards to why Doug is visiting Odd Squad implies that Doug has his own house, and water flooded his basement (where he keeps and makes his sandwiches). However, it was revealed in [[Recap/OddSquadS1E20PuppetShowMysticEggPizza "Mystic Egg Pizza"]] that Doug doesn't have a house of his own, and instead, he lives with his mother, making his sandwiches in her basement.
* ShoutOut: Doug has a translator collar on Randall that allows him to speak English in a similar manner to Charles Muntz's dogs from the movie ''WesternAnimation/{{Up}}''.
* SkywardScream: The donut shop owner does this, although there's no spoken dialogue, and it's presented in slow-motion.
* TalkingAnimal: Randall is revealed to be able to talk, thanks to Doug having built him a translator collar.
* TheThingThatWouldNotLeave: Doug is presented as being this throughout the episode, constantly interrupting Fladam and Lady Bread and disturbing Ms. O in her attempts to have the two villains come to some sort of a truce. However, unlike most examples, he is fully aware he can be a nuisance to Odd Squad and exploits the trope in order to have Olympia and Otis compete in an egg race in his place.
* TwoLinesNoWaiting: There are two plotlines in this episode. One revolves around Olympia helping out Doug with his egg salad sandwich business, and another revolves around Otis and Ms. O mitigating an argument between Fladam and Lady Bread over who is the better villain. The plotlines later intertwine at the climax of the episode when Doug gets in the way of the arguing villains and gives them some words of advice (that are one-sided, on his end).
* VomitDiscretionShot: It's downplayed (and potentially defied by Anna Cathcart herself), but Olympia manages to nearly throw up in her mouth when Doug lets her smell the water used for boiling his eggs. She manages to gag in a surprisingly audible fashion for a Creator/PBSKids show, unlike the last [[Recap/OddSquadS1E5ReindeerGames few]] [[Recap/OddSquadS1E20PuppetShowMysticEggPizza times]] a character has nearly thrown up.

--> ''[the Main 3 smile]''
--> '''Doug:''' N-no, I'm...totally talking about sandwiches.

** Olympia and Otis also comes up with nicknames for each other, with Olympia giving Otis the nickname of "Rigatoni" while he refers to her as "Dangerous".
* BathtubScene: A variant. The Bubble Room is a room full of water and sudsy bubbles, and could essentially be considered as one large bathtub (complete with Oona happily saying "bubbles" as she dives across the camera into the water). Of course, since this is a TV-Y kids' show with actual kid actors, there's no nudity to be found.
* BerateAndSwitch: When Otis claims that [[ItsAllMyFault missing Rookie Night was all his fault,]] Olympia agrees with him and scolds him...before saying that it was [[TheBestWhateverEver the best Rookie Night ever.]]
* BigWhat: Inverted, as Olympia gives a small, WhatTheHellHero-laced "You did ''what?!''" upon learning that Otis turned Owen down on his offer for the partner pair to join him for Rookie Night.
* BlandNameProduct: The Shmumberger logo looks a bit similar to that of [[Advertising/TheBurgerKing Burger King.]]
* BlindShoulderToss: Orchid does this with Ocean's phone in the Bubble Room.
* TheCameo: Orielle makes an appearance as a rookie in the Bubble Room, and surprisingly, she's without her partner, Oriele.
* ChildishPillowFight: The rookies and Dr. O do this with each other in the Pillow Fort Room, to top off Rookie Night.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Orchid calls Otis "too cool for school", and he responds by saying that he never said he was "too cool" to begin with.
* DeliberatelyMonochrome: In keeping with the style of many late 20th-century TV shows, one of the rooms Olympia and Otis visit is in black-and-white, with them in black-in-white as well.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Otis doesn't like the patty part of a burger, and instead, he goes for the buns.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: After going through room after room to reach the other rookies, Olympia and Otis finally reach the Pillow Fort Room, where they all are. Unfortunately, while the partner pair end up being too late to join the party, they become envied and admired by the others due to them journeying through all the rooms in Headquarters, which no one except them has ever done.
* FakeOutFadeOut: As the rookies and Dr. O perform another TitleDrop, they perform a YeahShot by jumping up into the air and freezing in place with the {{Leitmotif}} for Rookie Night (as an event) being played. However, it turns out to ''not'' be the end of the episode, as a few seconds later, Ms. O comes onto the scene and asks everyone why they're frozen in mid-air, telling them that Rookie Night is over and ordering them to get back to work. Everyone then becomes un-frozen obeying their boss's order and leaving the Pillow Fort Room while she puts on a pair of sunglasses and becomes ready to participate in "Boss Night", with a guitar riff and the background changing to a beachfront one ending the episode for real.
* GreenEyedMonster: Olympia is ''incredibly'' jealous that everyone else is off having fun on Rookie Night and she isn't. The episode revolves around her dragging Otis along in order to meet her fellow co-workers to have a fun time; however, they manage to make their own fun by going through every door in Headquarters to meet them, which everyone recognizes.
* HiddenDepths: Though [[TheStoic Otis]] has a stoic exterior, he's pretty good at delivering therapy to plants when they need it most.
** Otis also doesn't like new experiences, as he has a chronic habit of automatically saying "no" to anything new or weird that is offered to him. He later ends up changing his tune upon learning about skydiving and hearing Owen and a few other recruits having a fun time doing it.
* ImYourWorstNightmare: Olympia says this when considering "Your Worst Nightmare" as a nickname.
* InvisibleAnatomy: One of the rooms Olympia and Otis visit make their heads and hands invisible. While it surprises Olympia, it doesn't faze Otis in the slightest.
* ItsAllMyFault: When Oona tells Otis and Olympia that they missed all of the fun of Rookie Night, he immediately blames himself, as he was the one who suggested the pair go through all the rooms in Headquarters. Olympia is quick to berate him before pulling a BerateAndSwitch and telling him that it was the best Rookie Night ever.
* {{Leitmotif}}: An upbeat guitar riff plays whenever any character shouts "Rookie Night".
* LuckilyMyShieldWillPreventMe: Otis and Olympia use their shield to protect themselves against a dragon and its powerful flame.
* MessyHair: Owen develops some after emerging from the door leading to the park.
** Orchid also gets a messy, bubble-filled hairdo after emerging from the Bubble Room.
* NonIndicativeName: Despite it taking place during the day time, Rookie Night is called such because it sounds better than "Rookie Day".
* NoPhonesTonight: Oona, Ocean and Orielle have their phones destroyed in some manner. While Oona has hers crushed by wheelbarrows, both Orchid and Dr. O's dispose of Ocean's and Orielle's phones, respectively, leaving Olympia and Otis unable to further contact them.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Yep, even someone like [[TheComicallySerious Dr. O]] can have a fun time at Rookie Night.
* RapidFireNo: Olympia rattles off a series of [[LittleNo Little No's]] when Otis spends some time in a room with a bounce house.
* ShoutOut: While not to change the weather in any way, one part of Rookie Night involves the Running of the Wheelbarrows, named similarly to the Running of the Leaves from ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''.
** Both Orchid and Olympia name-drop Creator/TonyDanza at one point, which is Orielle's nickname.
* SkewedPriorities: When Olympia and Otis manage to pinpoint where Oona and the others are, Otis asks if he can eat his patty-less bun first. Olympia tells him that it's just bread and he needs to let it go.
* TalkingToPlants: The gardener in the ColdOpen does this, but has a problem with one plant who acts like a complete {{Jerkass}} towards him.
* TitleDrop: Say it with us: '''''"ROOKIE NIIIIGHT!!!"''''' (It's shouted enough times in this episode to make a DrinkingGame out of it!)
* TranquilFury: At one point, Olympia becomes envious enough to deliver a scathing response to Otis laced with fury when he says that skydiving sounds amazing.
--> '''Olympia:''' ''This is what I have been trying to tell you.''
* TravelMontage: Olympia and Otis go through all of the emergency back doors in Headquarters, which is presented like this.
* WorldBuilding: This episode shows us what's inside some of the doors situated in Headquarters, with snakes and ladders, a cave with a dragon, and a beehive being only a few of the oddities seen.
** Rookie Night as a concept is introduced, which is where rookies join more experienced agents for a fun time in Headquarters. Among the rules and traditions shown (the latter of which are shared among experienced agents) are giving [[AffectionateNickname Affectionate Nicknames]] and using phones being looked down upon, among other things. If Ms. O's words are any indication, there is also a similar event held for Odd Squad Directors.
--> '''Otis:''' Agreed. My point is, we will [[PunctuatedForEmphasis find. This. Party.]]
