Doesn't have anything to do with realism.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** Midoriya's mother almost pulls him out of U.A. because of the recent threats to her son's life. She is convinced by a passionate plea by All Might, but her fears are completely understandable.
** All Might, finally having more time to invest in teaching and promising to be a better mentor to Midoriya, has done what anyone would do at that point: instead of trying to go in blind and get practical experience, he started by reading a handbook about teaching.
** Todoroki and Inasa, at the end of the exam, come around, work together and with Midoriya, are able to bring Gang Orca to his knees. Regardless, they failed because, at that point, they had more than proven that they were too unstable to work professionally and caused more harm than good.
** [[Recap/MyHeroAcademiaHeroKillerArc Best Jeanist previously choose to have Bakugo intern under him]] specifically because he wanted to address Bakugo's HairTriggerTemper issue. He called him out on it saying that a hero's image is just as important as his or her combat prowess. Bakugo didn't take that advice to heart and it's ultimately what causes him to fail the exam.
** The staff of the exam give those who fail a break by allowing them to retake it after a remedial course. With an increase of villain activity following All Might's retirement, as well as Stain's influence that spark a villain's surge, Japan needs heroes now more than ever.

Following the events of the Hideout Raid, All Might is now officially retired, and promises to focus on training his students, and especially his pupil Midoriya. Due to the recent events, U.A. High is now a BoardingSchool, taking in the students to keep a better watch on them. Aizawa and All Might go to the student's families one by one and eventually manage to convince everyone, though Midoriya's mother needs some convincing from All Might. Bakugou seems to have caught on on Midoriya and All Might's relationship.

On the dorms, Aizawa gives everyone a harsh scolding for their actions in the previous arc, knowing that Midoriya and the others planned to invade the pros plan and save Bakugou, he almost expels everyone that was involved, but opts out, since due to All Might's retirement, society needs more heroes than ever. As everyone settles down, a competition to see who has the best dorm starts, ending up with Satou as the winner.

The second stage revolves around rescuing people from a disaster, while being attacked by villains, played by the Tenth ranked hero, Gang Orca, and his sidekicks. The rescuees are professionals that will thoroughly critique their techniques in saving victims, keeping calm under a disaster, and treating each individual situation. Yaoyorozu leads class 1-A in their rescue efforts, while Bakugou cusses out potential victims and leaves to find the villains.

Following the exam, the results are out. Everyone in Class 1-A passed, with the exception of Todoroki and Bakugou. Todoroki because he put his argument with Inasa over protecting his teammates or defeating the villains (Inasa also fails because of this), and Bakugou because the rescuees didn't like [[HeroWithAnFInGood his attitude]] and failure to reassure the civilians. These two will take a remedial course, and can get their licenses at the end of that.

Back in the dorms, Bakugou calls Midoriya at night and tells him to meet him in the area where they had their first fight in U.A., Ground Beta. See, Bakugou is hot-tempered, but he isn't ''stupid''. He's put two and two together about Midoriya's Quirk, figuring out the true nature of One for All. He wants to fight Midoriya, both to prove himself and to express his HiddenDepths. Bakugou blames himself for All Might's retirement, because his loss of power happened saving Bakugou (which in turn happened because of his bad attitude). Midoriya is able to draw out 8% of One for All during the fight, but is still defeated by Bakugou. However, the battle-therapy has had a calming effect on Bakugou, allowing the two to break out of their toxic relationship and Bakugou to begin respecting Midoriya as an equal. This does not impress Aizawa, who puts them in dorm arrest/suspension for fighting.

Together, they manage to bring Gang Orca down and the clock runs out in this particular exercise.

'''Aftermath'''

Following the exam, the results are out. Class 1-A has passed and received their licenses, with the exception of Todoroki and Bakugou, who were reproved, together with Inasa, due to their performances.

All Might meets with All For One to try to get information out of him but nothing comes out of it, though he is proud to see Midoriya get his license.

Back in the dorms, Bakugou calls Midoriya at night and tells him to meet him in the area where they had their first fight in U.A., Ground Beta.

With Bakugou at the height of his emotional turmoil, feeling guilty for being kidnapped and caused the end of All Might's career, the two brawl out their feelings, with Midoriya reaching 8% of his power, though he is defeated at the end, and Bakugou figures out that he . All Might comes and shows that both of them can learn a lot from each other, as Bakugou needs to learn to save like Midoriya, and Midoriya needs to learn the drive to win like Bakugou. The two seem to start understanding each other better.

The two are properly scolded by Aizawa, and put under house arrest/suspension.

During that house arrest, Midoriya meets a strange student with the power to phase through things.

Added DiffLines:

* RealityEnsues:
** Midoriya's mother almost pulls him off of U.A. because of the recent threats to his son life. She is convinced by a passionate plea by All Might, but her fear are completely understandable.
** All Might finally having more time to invest on teaching and promising to be a better teacher to Midoriya, has done what anyone would do at that point: instead of trying to go in blind and get practical experience, he started by reading a handbook about teaching.
** Todoroki and Inasa, at the end of the exam, come around, work together and with Midoriya, are able to bring Gang Orca to his knees. Regardless, they failed because, at that point, they had more than proven that they were too unstable to work professionally and caused more harm than good.

* IWorkAlone: Deconstructed. Todoroki, Bakugou and Yoarashi attempt to do this, and it results in all of them failing the exam, with the explanation that their inability to work together is damaging to the generation of heroes focused on unity and teamwork that they attempt to create to compensate All Might's retirement. In particular, Yoarashi and Todoroki stopping to deal with their personal issues during the fight against Gang Orca almost gets Shindou [[FriendlyFire killed]].
