* MirrorSelf: Invoked by Reverser, who inverts peoples' characteristics and/or personalities. For example, Chloé becomes the BetaBitch and Sabrina the AlphaBitch.

* BroughtDownToNormal: Reverser's curse takes away Ladybug's skill and athleticism, making her an even worse klutz than she is as a civilian. It doesn't erase her Lucky Charm powers, however, allowing her to fix things with an assist from Nathanial and Alix.

* HostageForMacGuffin: Reverser threatens to have the mayor crush Paris under space garbage unless Ladybug and Cat Noir give up their Miraculous, along with Nathanial and Marinette. Ladybug gets him to settle for just Cat Noir and Nathanial as part of her gambit.

** InUniverse, Nathaniel is given a comic book script with the title "The Diary of Ladybug" with the author's name removed, and reads the opening scene about Ladybug having a crush on the Evillustrator (Nathaniel). He shows to meet the anonymous author under the impression that it's Ladybug who was confessing her feelings for him, but sees Marc and is disappointed and offended, believing it to have been a prank by Marc and Marinette.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When Nathaniel goes to Alix about feeling mocked by Marinette and Marc, Alix points out that there had to be some miscommunication error, as "It's [[NiceGirl Marinette]]."

* PoorCommunicationKills: The conflict happens because Marinette gives Nathaniel "The Diary of Ladybug" and, in an agreement with Marc, doesn't tell him who wrote it. Nathaniel assumes the diary to be real but, at Marinette's insistence that he not ask about the author, doesn't confirm his suspicions. So he is surprised and immediately suspicious to see Marc in place of Ladybug at the park and turns to find Marinette watching from afar via her phone, leading him to assume he is being pranked. His resulting anger upsets Marc, who is then akumtized.

* TruceZone: The art room (Room 303) is clearly meant to be this as the art teacher gently calls Alix out for mocking Chloé's artistic endeavors.

* BilingualBonus: For some odd reason, the comic panels at the end have Latin in the bubbles.

** InUniverse, Nathaniel is given a comic book script with the title "The Diary of Ladybug" with the author's name removed. When he shows up to meet the author, he sees Marc instead of Ladybug and is greatly disappointed.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The entire thing with the space trash, really. There's at least 3 things wrong with the scenario to begin with.
** 1) It's supposedly a new program, but Paris has apparently already launched 10 tons of garbage into orbit.
** 2) The protest seems to be environmental, arguing against dumping trash into space rather than what has to be an astronomical monetary cost to the taxpayers.
** 3) The trash is stored in individual dumpsters which each have their own rocket booster that for some reason not only still has fuel, but has been oriented so they can all be launched right back to Earth with a simple radio command.

* BaitAndSwitch: Chloé and Sabrina appear early on, setting up a recipe for yet another swift akumatization at her hands. However, Alix drives her off without incident, and Marc is instead akumatized by a combination of Marinette's {{poor communication|Kills}} and Nathaniel picking up the JerkassBall.
** Nathanial is given a comic book script with the title "The Diary of Ladybug" with the author's name removed. When he shows up to meet the author, he sees Marc instead of Ladybug and was greatly disappointed.

* AscendedFanboy: Marc printed out Nathaniel's sketches from the school's website as inspiration for his story "The Diary of Ladybug", and geeks out hard when he has a chance to see the originals. By the end of the episode, he and Nathaniel have combined the two into a comic.

* JerkassBall: After finding out that the book was made by Marc instead of Ladybug, Nathaniel is quick to accuse him of messing with him for kicks. When Marc is quick to explain that he just wanted to write a comic book with him, Nathaniel declares that that will never happen before ripping up the book.
