* AdviceBackfire: One of the rules of peer counseling is that they can only be there to listen to their client's problems, not actually give them advice. Bobby ends up breaking that rule repeatedly starting with telling Stacey to ditch class.
* AllMenArePerverts: The main reason why class advisor April doesn't let Joseph sign up for peer counseling is she thinks he's only joining to be around girls. She's not far off the mark.
* BrutalHonesty: Joseph tells Bobby the reason that girls don't like them is because he's weird and Bobby is chubby and kind of dumb.
** When Hank describes his dream of being able to die happy after fixing up a junker car with Bobby and getting to see him drive off, Dale replies that his dream is "actually kinda sad".
* ClingyJealousGirl: Stacey Gibson becomes one to Bobby after he keeps giving her bad advice, including dumping her boyfriend.
* GirlOfTheWeek: Jenny Medina and Stacey Gibson. Bobby wants to try dating Jenny, but ends up having Stacey become obsessed with him. Jenny ends up calling off her date with Bobby after finding out what happened to Stacey. Neither girl shows up again in the rest of the series.
* HollywoodDateless: Bobby is supposedly hopeless with girls at the start of the episode, despite the fact that he dated Connie and he's had numerous one-off love interests over the years.
* TheInternetIsForPorn: When the boys notice that the signup line for peer counseling is nothing but girls, Joseph pleasantly reminisces about a similar story he read online that "ended nicely".
* MixtapeOfLove: After becoming infatuated with Bobby, Stacey mixes a few [=CDs=] for him, then also buys him a CD player after realizing that he might not have any way to listen to them.
* SpecialGuest: Three in this episode: Creator/LauraPrepon voices peer counseling advisor April, Creator/LindsayLohan voices Jenny Medina, and Creator/AlysonHannigan voices Stacey Gibson.
* TheOneGuy: Bobby ends up being the only boy to sign up for peer counseling after Joseph can't help being a perv.
* UnequalPairing: April says that peer counselors are not allowed to date their clients since they're vulnerable. Naturally, it backfires on Bobby when he ends up breaking that rule.
* WomenPreferStrongMen: Hank attempts to veto Bobby's interest in peer counseling by telling him that girls will want to date a guy who knows how to fix a car.
* ZanyScheme: The episode starts off with Bobby and Joseph coming up with different ideas to meet new girls to date, including greeting girls outside the restroom.
