Carlin performs a trick on the stage by sawing Rosa in half. All the spectators are happy and are showering him with flowers, and Carlin's assistant Wally is also happy. Only Carlin is sad. He is tired of doing such simple tricks because he is capable of more. In the dressing room, he tells Wally about the magician Harry Houdini. They tied him up, put him in a bag, put him in a box, wrapped the box with chains, and threw it on burning stakes, and Houdini went on stage as if nothing had happened. Carlin is going to repeat this trick; it's very dangerous, but it looks like he's close to solving it.

Wally has been preparing requests for several days. He collects things with Carlin at the dump, sharpens stakes, paints Barry's toilet, and finally everything is ready. Carlin goes up on stage. He explains his trick to the audience and goes upstairs. The audience is very scared by what they saw. Carlin climbs into the box, which hangs over the burning stakes. The ropes burn and break. The box falls on the stakes, and Carlin really appears on the scene. But instead of applause, he hears reproaches because his friends were very scared for him.

In the dressing room, Wally doesn't understand why Carlin told everyone that he wasn't in the drawer because he himself saw that he was there. Karlin replies that now he has something to be proud of, but no victories are worth the experiences of our loved ones. They'd rather not know that we're capable of madness. Wally notices that now no one will believe that he has revealed Houdini's secret. Suddenly, Rosa looks into the dressing room and asks Karlin to show her the trick with the sawing again. Carlin agrees and happily goes on stage.
