Rant Inducing Slight is now a disambig.

* RantInducingSlight: Lynley's having Havers' flat re-painted without telling her. She doesn't spare any punches, including accusing Lynley of behaving like "the earl patronising the peasants."

* DudeNotFunny: In universe, Tony the coroner's remarks were ''way'' out of line. Lynley's offer to Havers to bring him up on unbecoming conduct charges was genuinely justified.

* CrowningMomentofHeartwarming / CrowningMomentofAwesome: When Havers gets introduced to Tony, [[JerkWithAHeartOfJerk the Lancashire coroner]], the very first thing he says to her is about the betting pool on her not lasting a month as Lynley’s partner. Havers exercises some impressive self-control and ''doesn’t'' punch him out; simply indignantly gives the quote at the top of the recap: '...given the choice between working with a clever, considerate man or a mouthy git, I know who I'd choose.' Cue the Awesome moment: Tony then looks at Lynley and smirks, ‘You’ve got her well broken in. If you’re ever hard up, you’ve got a dead cert there.’ The camera is focusing on Barbara, but as soon as the last word is out of Tony’s mouth Lynley is on his feet and in Tony’s face. Barbara pulls him back verbally, but when we do get a look at Lynley he’s absolutely stone-faced; this is the look he reserves only for the most despicable of killers and criminals they face over the course of the show. Honestly, he looks like he’s about three seconds away from [[BerserkButton doing something]] both painful and permanent to the jerk. Apart from the pilot, this is also the only time that ''anyone'' implies to their faces that Havers is sleeping with Lynley. This could be because word got around about Lynley’s reaction here; he later offers to have Tony brought up on conduct unbecoming charges - Havers shrugs it off, but it wouldn't be OOC of Lynley to have done it anyway, giving Barbara the excuse that it's his rep on the line too.
