* AFriendInNeed: Freddie to Carly. He is extremely selfless and willing to sacrifice his best interests for someone else's, in this case, his childhood love interest.
* TheBigDamnKiss: After suffering miserably from a pathetically one sided, unrequited crush in the first 2 seasons, Carly ''finally'' gives Freddie the romantic kiss he has always wanted. What makes it even more powerful is how long he has been craving for this moment, and when Carly finally kisses Freddie (and several times too!) after she commends him for his heroism, he is rendered speechless.
* BittersweetEnding: The episode ends with Freddie breaking up with Carly on good terms because he is nervously unsure if her affections for him are genuine, but they agree to remain as friends. He also leaves the door open for them to get back together in the future once he is fully healed up and his heroism blows over/fades away. If she still wants to date him, he would eagerly look forward to it.

* GreenEyedMonster: Freddie asks Sam at school if she is envious of her best friend making out with him. She is immediately grossed out, feeling like vomiting blood.
* ItsAllMyFault: A bone of contention in this episode is Carly blaming herself for "causing" Freddie to become gravely injured and crippled (Freddie's mother Marissa harshly berates her for this), even though Freddie himself voluntarily jumped out in the middle of the intersection and shoved Carly (who was crossing the bustling city streets) out of harm's way, although he may have done this to protect and rescue her from getting run over by the food truck.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Freddie sacrifices his relationship with Carly to avoid taking advantage of her in the future because he wants her to be happy. Quite an unusual example, because Freddie himself backs out of the relationship in order to ensure Carly would be happy, rather than of potentially taking advantage of a situation where she might not really like him but just thinks she does. Coming from Freddie (who has been craving for Carly to fall in love with him), that's pretty selfless.
