Those murders also bring Giardello's estranged son, Mike Giardello (Creator/GiancarloEsposito), an FBI agent, to Baltimore. In addition, the squad room has a new paint job and look, as well as a new detective, Rene Shepherd (Creator/MichaelMichele).
