Over the next few days, Harry is still reeling from the shock he had to live with. He has a painful meeting with Cedric's parents. They thank him for returning their son's body. He offers them the prize money, but they decline it. He goes back to Gryffindor Tower later that day. The students. Harry wonders whether they believed Dumbledore, or whether they are more likely to believe Rita Skeeter's article. A few days later, they visit Hagrid to discuss what happened. Hagrid said he always knew that Voldemort would come back, is hopeful that he can be defeated for good this time and that he is not afraid as long as they have Dumbledore. He has a secret mission to do in the summer, and Madame Maxime will most likely be joining him.

Harry goes down to the Great Hall for a leaving feast. He notices Snape and wonders what was the secret task Dumbledore asked him to do. He suspects Snape might have gone to make contact with the Death Eaters, to resume his role as a spy. Dumbledore begins his speech with an eulogy for Cedric. He shocks the school by revealing the truth about Cedric's death but says that the uncomfortable truth is preferable to lies. He then praises Harry for the courage he showed on that night. Dumbledore says that the Triwizard Tournament was meant to encourage closer relations between foreign wizards and that these ties should be valued all the more so in light of Voldemort's return. He finishes by telling people to "Remember Cedric Diggory".

It turns out that Bagman is a GamblingAddict who has been in debt to goblin money lenders. So Bagman tried to dig himself out by putting a bet on Harry, which explains why he gave Harry good marks and offered him help. Since Harry and Cedric arguably drew, that means he's lost his bet and had to flee. Harry quietly convinces the Twins to take his prize money, and encourages them to use it to fulfil their dream of starting a joke shop.

It's then time to head back for the summer holidays. On the way out, Harry says farewell first to Fleur and then to Krum. On the train, Hermione notes that Voldemort's return and Cedric's death have been covered up. She then reveals that she found out how Rita Skeeter had been spying on their private conversations. She reveals a beetle trapped in a jar: it's Rita Skeeter, who is an illegal animagus. Harry realises he saw the beetle each time they had a conversation that was spied on. Hermione plans to release her soon, but Skeeter will not be writing any articles for a year unless she wants her secret given away.

They are then visited by Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle. Malfoy gloats about Voldemort's return. When he mockingly mentions ''Cedric's death'', he pushes a BerserkButton. The Trio knock them out with a mix of jinxes, with some help from Fred and George. The Twins then join them in the compartment. Ron asks them about [[Recap/HarryPotterAndTheGobletOfFireC29TheDream who they were blackmailing]]. The Twins reluctantly explain: it was Ludo Bagman.
