* ArtisticLicenseBiology: The giant otter is drawn with buck-teeth in several shots, despite not being a rodent. Although it is correctly drawn with carnivore teeth in other scenes.

* ChekhovsGun: Before the giant otter shows up in town, Kevin, Fred, Gretel and Hamster were watching an episode of ''England But With Dragons'', in which a knight traps a gorgon under a tapestry in order to defeat it without [[BrownNote seeing her face]]. Guess what method Hamster and Gretel use to "defeat" the giant otter.

* ShoutOut: Kevin's armored suit being made of scrap metal brings to mind ComicBook/IronMan, but in terms of design, it resembles War Machine.

* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: The otter, natch. Although it is only 40 feet tall.

* SpeaksFluentAnimal: A police officer brought an animal interpreter whom he believed could speak otter, in order to to talk to the giant otter. The animal interpreter speaks dolphin instead. This is followed by an OverlyLongGag in which the police officer asks for ''anyone'' who can speak otter, while the giant otter plays around, accidentally destroying things in the process.
** It turns out that Hamster actually ''can'' understand otter, and thus easily interpret it. Who knew the language of otter is incredibly close to the language of hamster?

* DidNotThinkThisThrough: Said by the Amplifier when he fires his amplifier ray at a giant hot dog Gretel threw at him, which only makes it bigger.

During Hamster and Gretel's scuffle with the Amplifier, one lone amplification ray is shot and after reflecting off a satellite, hits an otter in the open sea, causing it to become ginormous. Long after aforementioned scuffle, the giant otter finds its way to town. Hamster and Gretel have to stop the otter and bring it back before the whole town is destroyed... but they're incapable of doing anything towards it since the otter is just too adorable. Meanwhile, Kevin felt useless during the battle against the Amplifier, and decides he should get superpowers too, attempting to use an iron armored suit.
