* TrrrillingRrrs: Sam, under the impression that Guy's name is "Grumph," pronounces it excitedly as "Grrrrrrumph!"
* YouCanPanicNow: During the news report of the chickeraffe escape, a police officer tells viewers not to be alarmed, but eventually becomes so frightened by his own description of how dangerous they are that he ends up running away screaming "Run for your lives!"

** One of the inventors presenting at [=SnerzCo=] has a "Narrator Muter." When the narrators wonders out loud what it does, she turns the dial, quieting his voice.

* HumiliationConga: Guy's invention malfunctions and explodes during his presentation, after which two of it's disembodied hands [[SarcasticClapping sarcastically clap]] at his failure... then ''also'' blow up, followed by his now-burned ticket to Meepville (which he was about to be given before the malfunction) disintegrating in the mechanical hand that was holding it, when gives him a thumbs-down before retracting.

* SatchelSwitcheroo: An unintentional example. Sam places his suitcase down next to Guy's because he's excited by how they both have the same one. Guy only takes Sam's by accident because he trips over them in his haste to leave.
* SarcasticClapping: After Guy's Self-Flyer explodes, two of the arms on his do this.

** While fleeing from the cops, Sam pats his suitcase and says "You're coming with me, Chickeraffe!" then gives an EvilLaugh. Sounds like a cheesy joke [[spoiler:until you find out that he's the true [[The Dragon Dragon]] to Mr. Snerz]].

*** [=McWinkle=] {{facepalm}}s when Gluntz lets the zoo guard fall into the slapping turtle pit, saying that she was supposed to "let him go ''free''," not "let go of the net they were holding him in over the pit." It seems like [[EvenEvilHasStandards a momentary lapse in moral]], [[spoiler:until you find out that they're not actually the villains]].

* CoincidentalBroadcast: E.B. tries to talk her mother into letting her stay home in Glerfsberg instead of taking her on her business trip to Meepville because "nothing ever happens." At that exact moment, a report about the chickeraffe escape comes on the TV.

*** When Gluntz shows the security guard at the zoo her BADGUYS card, he asks, confused, "You have ''cards''?" Sounds like a fourth wall joke about them being literal {{card carrying villain}}s, right? [[spoiler: They're not. That's just an acronym for the wildlife conservation they work for, and neither of them understand how or why it's misleading]].

* {{Foreshadowing}}: When Gluntz shows the security guard at the zoo her BADGUYS card, he asks, confused, "You have ''cards''?" Sounds like a fourth wall joke about them being literal {{card carrying villain}}s, right? [[spoiler: They're not. That's just an acronym for the wildlife conservation they work for, and neither of them understand how or why it's misleading]].

** Subverted with The BADGUYS. Their business card, dark clothes, interrogation tactics with the zookeeper and [=McWinkle=] mentioning that this is [[OneLastJob his "last job"]] imply the they're literal {{card carrying villain}}s who are trying to get the chickeraffe for Sners, but it later turns out that [[spoiler:BADGUYS is just an acronym for the wildlife conservation they work for who are trying to ''prevent'' the chickeraffe from being stolen and the two of just happen to be [[GoodIsNotNice kind of aggressive]]]].

Happy-go-lucky Sam-I-Am meets long-suffering inventor Guy-Am-I, while the town of Glurfsburg is in panic due to a a rare and dangerous animal being stolen from the local zoo.

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Guy ends up being the only inventor to present at [=SnerzCo=] who isn't approved by the committee members (though only because his is the only one that ''explodes''). He repeatedly runs into them throughout the rest of the episode and is greatly annoyed by their celebrating.

* AwesomeButImpractical: Several of the inventions Guy sees at [=SnerzCo=], including the anti-umbrella (an umbrella that soaks it's holder) and the auto-finger-crosser (a gizmo that crosses your fingers for you), clearly don't have any practical purposes and only exist to [[RuleOfFunny be funny]].

* ChekovsGun: Sam repeatedly giving his address to Donna becomes a big help to Guy in the next episode, when he calls her up to find out where he lives and return his briefcase with the chickeraffe.

* HopeSpot: The last scene of the episode as Guy sits in his model room with what he thinks is the briefcase containing his broken invention.

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Inverted. Guy is touched when Sam politely tells the waitress at the diner to not leave him waiting too long on his oatmush and gives him a sincere "Thank You," which Sam takes to mean that they're best friends now, much to Guy's annoyance.
