** To be perfectly fair in regards to his killing of Shae(who he had no idea would be there), the very first thing she does when she sees him, before he can say anything let alone make a move to threaten her, is pull a knife on him; he has a fairly good argument for self defense, there, though he himself calls it murder.

** Credit where it's due, Sandor put up an absolutely vicious fight, far outclassing the efforts of either Jaime or Loras in their bouts against the Beauty, while suffering from a badly infected wound. Brienne was the clear victor, but it could have easily gone the other way.

* WorfHadTheFlu: While specific attention isn't drawn to it, you might notice the Hound favoring his left arm during his fight with Brienne, not using it on his sword, despite the blade's two handed grip, showing that he's suffering the effects of his infected wound. Though he does use it for a few solid punches.

* AdaptationExpansion: In the books Varys simply disappeared after helping Jaime to get Tyrion out of prison, and it's left unclear where he went, whether he went to Essos or whether he was just hiding in King's Landing. In the show - likely because they needed a reason to keep Conleth Hill on screen - he escapes alongside Tyrion.

Before both of them find out the truth, they hear horns and bugles and Rayder presses a knife against Jon Snow's neck but he reminds Mance that he doesn't have the numbers to pull a stunt like this. We see a wide shot of an army of mounted banners carrying banners march into the camps. They attack on two sides and rout all the Free Folk in their wake, it's a complete massacre with Mance's tent at the centre. Jon Snow and Mance are all lost as the soldiers criss cross through the forest. Mance then tells everyone to cease saying there has been enough blood spilt of their kind. The mounted knights stop and through the snow we see two familiar shapes marching forth. It's Stannis Baratheon and Davos Seaworth, fresh from Braavos. A quick introduction happens where Davos asks Mance to kneel before the "one true king of the seven kingdoms" but Mance, duly elected King Beyond the Wall will not kneel. Stannis takes this rebuke in his stride and asks Mance to be chained. Jon Snow introduces himself to Stannis, telling him he's Ned Stark's son much to Stannis' surprise. Stannis tells Jon that Ned was a honorable man. He wouldn't spare Mance would he. Jon vouches for Mance telling him that he's been honorable and right to him and his father would have accepted that. He also tells Stannis to burn all the dead.

At '''King's Landing''', we are in Maester Pycelle's laboratory where Cersei and Qyburn are serving a massive wound on the side of Gregor Clegane's abdomen. Oberyn's cause was not in vain after all, since his spear was coated with deadly Manticore poison prolonging The Mountain's justly deserved suffering. Pycelle washes his hands telling Cersei that there's no cure, but Qyburn tells Pycelle that he has an idea to keep Clegane alive. Cersei is curious. Pycelle tells Cersei that such arrogance was the reason why the maesters at the Citadel threw him out to begin with and he tells Qyburn to stop messing about in his laboratory. Cersei however tells Pycelle that it's no longer his laboratory and throws him out. Pycelle leaves in disgust. Qyburn attaches a medieval IV into Clegane to drain his blood in a jar and he tells Cersei that his work, based on his previous attempts, is highly difficult and the results might make Gregor a changed man, Cersei only asks if the Mountain will be thinner to which Qyburn tells her no. Cersei is pleased that her unstoppable killing machine will still be around.

In the fallout of the '''Battle at Castle Black''', Jon Snow marches through the snow in the bright morning sunlight into the Haunted Forest where Mance Rayder and his wildlings have set up camp. As he walks into the settlement wildlings in the woods come out with knives, Jon raises his arm showing no weapons. Mance Rayder steps out of his tent to meet him. He notes that Jon Snow is wearing black all again. Snow tells him he's here to treat with him. Snow informs the other wildlings to let him in. Jon Snow and Rayder reminisce about the good times they had when everyone was convinced, even Jon Snow, despite himself, that he had actually broken his vows to the Night's Watch. Rayder offers him a drink before they get to discussing terms, Rayder tells Jon Snow that he knows the Night's Watch have very few men, that they will not hold out over an extended siege but he's willing to spare any remaining defenders provided they are taken alive and allowed through the Wall. Jon Snow's terms are telling the Wildlings to go back home. Rayder tells him that is an impossibility given what they know now that "winter is coming". Jon tells him that Ygritte is dead, and Mance asks him if he killed her but Jon says no. Rayder realizes the real reason why Jon Snow is here, at which the other wildlings raise their daggers but Rayder keeps them at bay and he asks Jon Snow if he really has it in him to kill a man under his own home after drinking his wine, will the son of Ned Stark breach SacredHospitality?

Before both of them find out the truth, they hear horns and bugles and Rayder presses a knife against Jon Snow's neck but he reminds Mance that he doesn't have the numbers to pull a stunt like this.
