-> The Sea Bonnies had shifted so they were lined up, in a disturbingly ordered formation, along the front of the fish tank. He couldn’t tell for sure because they were so small, but from where he stood, it looked to Mott like all the Sea Bonnies were facing forward ... looking at him.

Mott is a studious, responsible young boy, but he has a problem. He's absolutely disgusted by his little brother's new pets. A prize from Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, the Sea Bonnies are genetically-altered sea monkeys meant to resemble [[Characters/FiveNightsAtFreddysFirstGeneration the rabbit mascot]], but they just look freaky as all get-out. Mott's mistake, though, is saying this to their faces. Because the Bonnies have started making his life a living hell, one that nobody would ever believe.

The twenty-nine ''Literature/FiveNightsAtFreddysFazbearFrights'' story, and the second of the tenth book, ''Friendly Face.'' It will be adapted into the graphic novel collection in 2024.

!!Tropes related to “Sea Bonnies”:

* AndIMustScream: Mott, as he's slowly replaced from the inside-out by Sea Bonnies.
* AnimalisticAbomination: What the actual ''hell'' are the Sea Bonnies supposed to be, anyway?
* AnimalLover: Rory is not just obsessed with his Sea Bonnies, but with his goldfish Fritz and his neighbor's new dog. He asks Mott if he thinks that their Dad will get them a puppy.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Rory's described as annoying, but "entertaining as all get out."
* BigBrotherInstinct: While Mott himself is being driven mad by the sea creatures, he eventually pushes himself to get rid of them when he realizes that they're in the same room as his little brother, and could do some serious harm to him if left alone.
* BigBrotherMentor: Rory often asks Mott for homework help.
* BodyHorror: At the end of the story, as Mott finds his own body infested with Sea Bonnies, and he struggles to the hospital as he's gradually being eaten from the inside and reformed until the creatures take control of his body.
* CassandraTruth: As Mott does the smart thing and goes to a doctor, he gets an X-Ray, where he sees the Sea Bonnies inside of him. He then spills everything to Dr. T, especially that he thinks he swallowed a Sea Bonnie and now they're replacing him. [[MistakenForInsane Of course, nobody thinks he's serious]].
* CheerfulChild: Rory is hyper-energetic and extremely excited about everything in life.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Being slowly eaten alive from little creatures inside your own body has ''got'' to be a bad way to go.
* DisappearedDad: Mott and Rory's dad is still in the picture, but he's a commercial airline pilot and is often away.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Mott calls the Sea Bonnies ugly, though he soon apologizes. The Sea Bonnies retaliate by driving him slowly insane, then eating him from the inside out.
* DownerEnding: The Sea Bonnies successfully replace Mott and walk off into the distance to do who-knows-what.
* TheDutifulSon: Mott's doing a lot while his dad's away and his mom is working. She's very appreciative.
* EvilIsPetty: The Sea Bonnies start picking on Mott just because he said he thought they were creepy. Even after he apologizes, they continue to amp up their torture. When he gets sick of them, they swim through the drain and crawl inside of him, before multiplying and eating him alive. You're not exactly proving him ''wrong,'' guys.
* FieryRedhead: Rory, who got his mom's hair and gets extremely upset very quickly when insulted.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Rory is only seven, so it makes sense that he's less responsible than big brother Mott.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: The short's very first paragraph has Mott deciding that he likes Freddy's because it has "a way of getting ''under the skin."''
* FunWithFlushing: Mott eventually decides to flush the Sea Bonnies down the toilet and tell Rory they died. He succeeds, but the Sea Bonnies don't die...
* GrandTheftMe: The Sea Bonnies gradually consume — and replace — the bodies of their victims.
* HairRaisingHare: The Sea Bonnies are technically shrimp – assuming they're not some kind of messed-up alien or agony creature – but they're designed to look like rabbits, and that design makes them terrifying.
* HeinzHybrid: The Sea Bonnies are implied to be some kind of mix between a brine shrimp and a sea slug.
* HiveMind: It seems that the Sea Bonnies operate under one.
* ItCanThink: They are able to understand human speech and get annoyed with Mott when he says they are disgusting.
* KillerRabbit: Technically they only ''look'' like rabbits, but they sure are killer.
* KillAndReplace: This turns out to be the purpose of the Sea Bonnies, first doing it to Rory's fish and then to Mott.
* MistakenForInsane: When Mott starts telling people that he's being replaced by Sea Bonnies, they think he's becoming delusional with whatever he has.
* MonsterOfTheWeek: The Sea Bonnies.
* MoralityPet: The Sea Bonnies do seem to genuinely like Rory, mainly because he gives them attention. Doesn't stop them from eating his fish, though.
* NoFullNameGiven: Mott's friends get to have surnames, he and Theresa do not.
* ParentalSubstitute: Mott is usually helping take care of Rory, reading him bedtime stories and helping him with his homework.
* PartingWordsRegret: The last thing Rory ever says to Mott is "You're not my brother," out of anger for him flushing his Sea Bonnies.
* SacrificialLamb: Fritz the goldfish is eaten and replaced by Sea Bonnies to show Mott how much of a danger they are and spur him into action.
* SeaAping: They are shrimps that resemble rabbits instead of monkeys.
* {{Telepathy}}: The Sea Bonnies are able to speak to Mott in his mind, unnoticed by anyone else. They use this power solely to insult him.
* UnusualPetsForUnusualPeople: Mott jokes that Rory was placed on their doorstep by sea monkies. This unknowingly encourages Rory to win the Sea Bonnies as a prize.
* UnwttingInstigatorOfDoom: Rory, by hatching the Sea Bonnies. Who could have known those things were sentient, evil, and raring to replace his big brother?
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: While the teens think they're disgusting, the Sea Bonnies are absolutely adored by Rory.
* WaterIsBlue: The Sea Bonnies are described as very blueish, to match their watery forms.
* WouldHurtAChild: Mott is only ''thirteen'' when the Sea Bonnies eat him alive and replace him.
