* TheDogBitesBack: Peter takes advantage of Carter's desperation to keep the affair secret and milks it dry, forcing him to do several embarrassing tasks just as Carter had previously forced him to do, and using his limos, hot tub, and even his HDTV knowing full well he can't say no to any of it. Even if it was entirely unintentional when he does reveal the affair, it's entirely possible given his animosity towards Carter, and he towards Peter, that he would've blabbed soon enough anyway; it's not like Carter would be any nicer to him otherwise.

* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: At the same time, however, it serves as an episode-long example of ''Carter'' getting his comeuppance, particularly as his selfish and bullheaded nature finally bites him, ranging from Babs splitting up with Carter when she finds out about the affair, to Peter giving him the runaround when he has him keep it secret, to even his at-times-overtly racist nature ruining his shot at dating when he asks a random black man to get him a drink. Essentially, it's a TraumaCongaLine ''a lifetime'' in the making until he finally owns up to his mistake to Babs, who openly admits while it would take some time for her to forgive him, she will reunite with Carter mainly because she knows she wouldn't have much of a shot on the dating market at her age.
* LaserGuidedKarma: This episode is one for Carter as Peter decides to blackmail him to do many humiliating things in exchange for not telling anyone about his infidelity as revenge for all the crappy things Carter did to him over the years. Later, his tendencies to be racist without admitting it ruins his shot at dating when he asks a random black person to order him a drink, ''calls him only as "Boy"'', and asks if he's someone else's. The girls he's with immediately throw their drinks in his face and leave, openly calling him a racist dick.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Serves as a reckoning as to how a jerk like Carter would end up in reality, with his affair nearly leading to a divorce with Babs and his carefree racism effectively ruining his shot at dating.

There are many differences though as Carter is the one who is cheating, Brian is not around to catch the affair, and Peter sees the face of the unnamed woman Carter was cheating with. Other differences include Babs reacting with anger and devastation towards the affair and already having passion when Cleveland didn’t have it.
