* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: After Joe arrests Mort for committing InsuranceFraud, as well as Peter and Quagmire for helping him, they call out Joe for not knowing what's it's like to be pushed around by insurance companies who do their best to keep their clients from receiving the help they were promised, much less need. Joe then tells them about the night he became paralyzed from the waist-down, and the {{Flashback}} shows him in a doctor's office where he's informed his medical insurance refused him a spinal surgery that would've allowed him to walk again because it would the company $200,000, but approved a wheel chair because it only costs $60. Once Joe tells his story, he erases the incriminating phone messages the guys left on their cell phones, and allows them to go free and Mort to collect the insurance money he desperately needs.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: {{Subverted}}. While Peter, Quagmire, and Mort were entitled to feel resentment to insurance companies for not giving them coverage, they still committed a felony and were about to go to jail. However, the subversion comes when Joe decides to set them free after relating to them about insurance agencies and their callousness.

* UngratefulBastard: PlayedForLaughs as after Joe releases his friends from custody, they just react to confusion that he sets them free instead of thanking him and Peter decides to mock Joe, throw his hat to the end of the hallway and run for the hills. Joe even states that he’s having second thoughts on erasing Peter’s confession from his phone.

* {{Bowdlerization}}: The following changes were made between the DVD version and the TV version:
** The entire part showing the school bus crash caused by the airplane banner for Mort's Pharmacy had to be recut and digitally altered to remove sight of the dead kids in the water and on land.
** Mort explaining his plan on burning down his pharmacy and making it look like an accident: on the TV version, he says "It's all covered in the Torah[[note]]the first five books of the 24 books of the Hebrew Bible[[/note]]". On the DVD version, Mort is more specific and says, "Well, there's a whole section of the Torah dedicated to burning down your business."
** Mort writing an angry letter about Ritz crackers: On TV, he calls the people who made the crackers, "miserable dicks". On DVD, he calls them "miserable dickheads."
** Peter sarcastic answer "Fucking your mom" when Joe interrogates him about the pharmacy burning has "fucking" bleeped on TV.
