* TooDumbToLive: Seriously, Karen should've known better than to take a dangerous mission without her spirits. But her pride wouldn't let her agree to Loke's terms which were fairly reasonable enough, especially when the consequences were becoming pretty evident (Her not being able to take jobs without any magical power after about a week without her spirits). While Loke does admit responsibility [[NiceJobBreakingItHero for indirectly causing her death]], Lucy agreed with what he was trying to do and that Karen's fate was her own fault.

* BrokenPedestal: Lucy's admiration for Karen Lilica vanishes when she learns that Loki was indirectly responsible for his master's death.
* DeathEqualsRedemption: This is implied at the end of the arc when Loki sees what he thinks is the spirit of Karen smiling at him, signifying she realized the error of her ways.
