I\'ve kept this thing abridged since the episode\'s only just aired, and spoilers sweetie - I\'ll add some more in a couple of weeks, provided nobody beats me to it. :P

Official summary by the BBC:

"The Doctor and Clara face their Last Christmas. Trapped on an Arctic base, under attack from terrifying creatures, who are you going to call? Santa Claus!"

Four crew members of an Ice Cap Polar Base – Ashley Carter, Bellows, Professor Albert and Shona – are under attack from the alien Kantrofarri. Fortunately for them, help is on the way. But desperate though their situation is, how willing will they be to accept one rescuer who arrives in a police box, and another who turns up on a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer?

Official summary by ‘Tis the BBC:

"The
night before Christmas; that brightest of days! And the Doctor and Clara face have [[Recap/DoctorWhoS27E13ThePartingOfTheWays parted their Last Christmas. Trapped on an Arctic base, under attack from terrifying creatures, who are you going to call? Santa Claus!"

ways.]] [[Recap/DoctorWhoS34E12DeathInHeaven Although Gallifrey’s still gone and Danny Pink died, they each think the other’s fine Ashley Carter, Bellows, both of them lied.]]

Then out on the roof, Clara hears such a clatter, she must go outside and deduce what’s the matter. And what to her wondering eyes should appear, but a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer!

(And a pair of comedy elves called Wolf and Ian. [[WhoWritesThisCrap But this meter’s butchered enough as it is]]).

It’s Santa alright! Though he tries out a fib, the elves and the flying deer botch his ad-lib. So Saint Nick gives the gifts? But he’s fake! Are you mad?! “Well, who do you ''think'' does it? Your ''Mum and Dad?!''“

Clara’s grown up past fairy-tales. She stands her ground. Then from up on that roof comes [[MostWonderfulSound a wonderful sound]] – it’s the TARDIS! The Doctor’s back! He comes out fast. He wants Clara to ''get inside'', no questions asked.

Both the Doctor and Santa Claus know what’s at stake. There’s a stand-off. The Doctor leaves Claus in his wake.

The Doctor looks ashen. His portents are gloomed – there’s monsters afoot, and humanity’s doomed. But there’s one great big question, on which its fate rests. “Do you believe in Santa Claus?” Clara says “yes.”

(CUE THE THEME TUNE! Complete with a little Christmas revamp, and Nick Frost’s name in the credits. Apparently the Time Vortex gets very snowy sometimes).

Then we’re out on a base in the freezing North Pole. There’s a girl who’s about to try taking a stroll through the base’s infirmary, with “sleepers” inside. If you think of them, they see you. No place to hide.

So Shona starts walking, tries not to get caught. She tries playing music to drown out her thoughts. “Merry Christmas Everybody”’s the song that she’s played! Well, she’d better keep moving, or else she’ll get [[Music/{{Slade}} slayed.]]

There’s three other people inside that base, actually; there’s
Professor Albert Albert, and Shona – Bellows, and Ashley. [[note]]Albert's played by Michael Troughton: Patrick Troughton's brother, wouldn't you know![[/note]] And actually, you’d better add on two more. The Doctor and Clara just burst through the door.

“Say, who
are under attack from the alien Kantrofarri. Fortunately for them, help is on the way. But desperate though those folks lying there in that bed? With those [[Film/{{Alien}} facehugging]] Dream Crabs clamped tight round their situation is, how willing will head?” And they’ve ''thought'' of them now, and the sleepers attack. And the Dream Crabs descend! And they be to accept one rescuer who arrives in a police box, and another who turns up can’t drive them back-

But, quick as the jingle of bells
on a sleigh pulled sleigh, Father Christmas is there, and he’s saving the day! But why the hell’s Santa Claus coming at all? “Christmas Day! In the North Pole! Who you gonna call?”

The Dream Crabs recede, and the sleepers take pause; then they’re back in their beds again, ordered
by flying reindeer?
Claus. Everyone’s still alive, thanks to his well-timed visit. But that’s not the end of the problem, now is it?

See, the Crabs use a quite nasty method to feed. They put you to sleep, make you dream, and proceed. [[LotusEaterMachine So they’ll spin you some dreams within dreams within dreams]], THEN they’ll suck out your brain. “Mercifully”. There’s no screams.

So is this all a Crab dream? What’s real and what’s not? What never existed, and what’s been forgot? It all so looks so life-like! It all looks uncanny! Especially when Clara wakes up, and there’s Danny!

But time’s running out. If that chalkboard’s not lying, it has three awful words for her.

'''[[OhCrap YOU. ARE. DYING…]]'''
