The story begins just after Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Jar Jar Binks arrive in the city of Theed during the events of ''Film/ThePhantomMenace''. Darth Vader, who has somehow traveled back in time from just before his confrontation with Luke Skywalker in ''Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack'', is also on the planet, and rescues Queen Amidala and her enterouge from the Trade Federation. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are shocked and suspicious of Vader, especially after he reveals that he is a Sith Lord, but Vader shows no interest in fighting them and instead aids them in getting the Queen off Naboo aboard her royal starcruiser.
