* StayInTheKitchen: Polly was known for this in the series, and this episode actually dwells on how she feels about it. She's the sort of person who likes taking care of the other three... but she [[{{Angst}} worries that unlike them, she's never made a real difference.]] This episode proves to her that she's wrong about that.

Oh, and the British airman they're attempting to flee France with looks awfully familiar to Polly...Polly...

The story is told by Anneke Wills as Polly and John Sackville as "the Pilot".

! Tropes include:
* FirstNameBasis: This was actually the first piece of performed ''Doctor Who'' to definitively state Polly's surname is "Wright".
* SpottingTheThread: Polly works out who the real spy on the escape line is [[spoiler: because her ''real'' Uncle Randolph knew he had a niece and the imposter doesn't.]]

The Doctor, Ben, Polly and Jamie land on a railway line in the middle of the night. They've not left the TARDIS two minutes before they're running from [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milice the Milice]], the French equivalent of the Gestapo. You see, it's February 1944, and they've just landed in the middle of Occupied France! Now, with no TARDIS, and Polly and the Doctor separated from Ben and Jamie, how are they ever going to get away safely?

Oh, and the British airman they're attempting to flee France with looks awfully familiar to Polly...
