* OtherMeAnnoysMe: Terry loves the Batman stage adaptation with its [[LighterAndSofter lighthearted]] and catchy musical numbers. Bruce considers it an insult to his legacy and everything he stood for. An added bonus is the fact that the stage Batman was also voiced by Creator/KevinConroy.

* TookALevelInJerkass: Ra´s is noticeably more villainous here than he was originally; Back in ´´TAS´´ he was willing to FaceDeathWithDignity and Talia was his MoralityPet. Here, he has long since killed her in a desperate gambit to stave off death.

** Other than reacting negatively whenever there is misgivings about her father, Talia doesn't look too distraught about her father's death. That's because he ''isn't'' dead.
** Talia looks noticeably paler compared to the last time we saw her. That's because Ra is walking in a dead body.

* OffingTheOffspring: After the Near Apocalypse of '09, Ra's al Ghul's body had been so badly damaged that even the Lazarus Pit was unable to repair it. In order to survive, he then used a computer to transfer his own consciousness onto Talia's body, in effect overwriting her mind and killing her. Although not directly stated, it is implied that he may have done this against her will. At the very least, he guilted/coerced her into it by playing on her filial loyalty. %%CONTINUITY NOTE CONCERNING THE MATTER. IN BATMAN BEYOND SEASON 2 EPISODE 4 LOST SOUL , Robert Vance, a computer mogul had his brain digitized such that his living brains mental impulses (memories personality life experience identity and so on) would be able to continue to exist in the living world in the form of a specially encoded computer program(he literally became a kind of virtual computer ghost clone of himself essentially; he went mad after he was shut down for decades. His first item of business after he's rebooted and hooked up to the 'net: Flex his digital muscles by wreaking havoc in the city. Second order: Commandeer Terry's computerized suit to kidnap his grandson and download himself into said grandsons younger body thereby making it possible for the surviving copy of his mind to once more exist in the living world in the flesh and body of his own grandson grand theft me style. quite understandably shaken and traumatized by the experience and quite lacking in business experience himself young bobby sold his company to some outside investors it was never stated who this unique brain encoding computer technology was purchased by but then you notice towards the end of this episode that Ra's wants to use a form of computer technology to body surf his mind and soul into Bruce Wayne's body thereby making it clear it was Ra's in Talia's body who purchased the computer technology from Bobby Vance at the end of "Lost Soul".

* BirthdayHater: Bruce has become one in his old age as it serves to only remind him of the fact that he is well past his prime.

After Terry takes Bruce to a showing of ''[[TitleTheAdaptation Batman: The Musical]]'' for his birthday, Bruce begins to lament his old age and what could have been. He then receives a surprise visit from an old flame, ComicBook/TaliaAlGhul, who informs him that she has since taken control of her late father's [[FountainOfYouth Lazarus Pit]] and has altered the procedure to the point where it is now "safe" for use. She offers Bruce the chance to become young again, but he is initially reluctant. However, a subsequent [[MomentOfWeakness mugging episode which nearly leaves him and a bystander dead]] causes him to reconsider the idea...

** Ra's, by his own admission, underestimates Terry during the final battle. He was more fixated on Bruce and less on the boy. The reborn Joker will make the exact same mistake with Terry in ''Return of the Joker''.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Well, for a given definition of "early" since ''Batman Beyond'' aired before ''Justice League'' was ever in production, but upon re-watch the absence of Diana from Bruce's files on his old flames is pretty glaring.

* AccidentalMisnaming: Terry pronounces Ra's name a "Raz" and is corrected by Talia. Terry continues to mispronounce the name, apparently as [[MaliciousMisnaming a deliberate show of disrespect]].

** The line "Criminals are a superstitious, cowardly lot" is from ''Detective Comics'' #33.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Bruce's pictures of former loves noticeably doesn't include [[WesternAnimation/BatmanMaskOfThePhantasm Andrea Beaumont]]. Paul Dini explained that Bruce deliberately left her out due to being a murderer. [[FridgeBrilliance Which is also probably why he initially left out Talia, since she was an assassin]].

* CowardiceCallout: Bruce scornfully calls out Ra's al Ghul on the sheer lengths the latter has gone to to save himself from death with [[spoiler:his [[FamilialBodySnatcher familial body-snatch]] and current efforts to possess Bruce]].

* [[Foreshadowing]]: the portraits of Ra's all over Talia's compound. It seems at first as if it's Talia, as a daughter, genuinely missing and mourning her father in spite of his crimes. In reality, it's a clue Ra's is still very much alive, present, and glorifying himself.

* GrandTheftMe: Ra's al Ghul performed this on his ''own daughter'' (see OffingTheOffspring below). And now he plans to do it to Bruce, plotting to return to Gotham as the "long-lost son" of Bruce and Talia.
