* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: The Donbrothers have yet to discover Tsubasa's identity and Inu Brother's yet to properly join the team. When they see Inu Brother seemingly in-league with Kagaku-Ki, they barely hesitate in treating him as an accomplice instead of attempting to hear him out.

* HeroicWillpower: Mizuho is the first person to resist giving into their desires and become a monster, even managing to keep herself sane so she doesn't attack people. This (and the blackmail) is what finally convinces Tsubasa to hear her out instead of engaging her. She does ''not'' retain this intellect as Kagaku-King however and has to be defeated by Toradora Onitaijin.

* OutGambitted: Mizuho manages to win "The Secret" at 50 million yen, but pays up in a whole bag of fake bills. It turns out "The Secret" that was put up for auction was a fake too, with Sano withholding the genuine copy stolen from his master.

* WhatTheHellHero: Upon arrived on-scene of the second battle, Don Momotaro delivers a very deadpan "What are you doing, Inu Brother?"

* MercyKill: Downplayed given it's the Hitotsu-King that would die rather than their host. When Kagaku-Ki shows proper hostility to the team and evolves into Kagaku-King, Inu Brother realizes he can't wait on her anymore and resolves to defeat her alongside the others.

* HeroicWillpower: Mizuho is the first person to resist giving into their desires and become a monster, even managing to keep herself sane so she doesn't attack people. She does ''not'' retain this intellect as Kagaku-King however and has to be defeated by Toradora Onitaijin.

* RestrainingBolt: Before Kagaku-Ki can attack anyone, a loud ringing in her ears kicks in to keep her stable. This (and the blackmail) convinces Tsubasa to give her a chance instead of fighting her.

** Haruka bids for "The Secret" in ''[[WeirdCurrency kibi-dango]]'', which caused the entire auction house to do a FaceFault. Later on, even after Mizuho wins the painting for 50 million yen, Haruka gets off the phone with Kaito and still attempts to bargain with Sano for the painting with an offer of ''100 million kibi-dango'', at which point Shinichi urges her to drop it.

* LastRequest: Takeo labels "The Secret" as a failure and requests Mizuho to burn his final piece if he dies. Tsubasa theorizes that Takeo's love is strong enough he couldn't express it in art form.

* BrickJoke: While being tasked to guard the real "The Secret", Haruka is asked to model by its current owner Sano, who paints her as she blows up a balloon. Haruka then gives the finished painting to Kaito as a replacement for the now-destroyed "The Secret", only for it to be revealed as a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernando_Botero Fernando Botero]]-esque picture that Kaito immediately rejects.

* PhantomThief: Defied. Tsubasa stop Mizuho from being one by stating that sending a CallingCard only happens on TV and how using [[RealNameAsAnAlias her real name]] on there is a bad idea. The card comes back later with her name crossed out when they realized the painting they stole at the auction house is a fake.
