* AnAesop: You may not like the sound of something or think it's unfitting for you at first, but it might be more fitting for you than you realize. This is shown with several characters:
** Arthur isn't too interested in the "how to draw animals" book he accidentally gets at the library at first, but Marc Brown encourages him to give the book a chance. The TimeSkip shows that he's about to publish a graphic novel about his life, which resulted from the book giving him a love of drawing animals.
** Likewise, Muffy, Francine and Buster are either put off or doubtful about the old board game's suggestions for future careers (a public servant for Muffy, a businesswoman for Francine, and a teacher for Buster). In the future, it turns out that they did take on those careers, but in ways that suit them; Muffy is running for mayor of Elwood City, Francine runs a company that designs sneakers, and Buster is a professor who assigns his students to write short stories.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Downplayed. The final scene only shows the futures of a handful of characters. Among the prominent characters who do not appear are the Brain, Sue Ellen, Fern, Prunella, the other members of the Tough Customers, the Tibbles, Emily, Jane and David, Grandma Thora and Grandpa Dave, Pal, and Mr. Ratburn or, since Bud does appear, Ladonna.Given the TimeSkip, it's entirely possible the grandparents have passed away and their parents (along with Mr. Ratburn) have retired (or perhaps passed away too) in the interim, and Pal almost certainly has by this point.

Character reactions don't qualify for this trope anymore.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: A RunningGag throughout the series is that Buster CannotKeepASecret, especially when it comes to Arthur. This naturally means that nobody, especially Arthur, trusts Buster with any of their secrets anymore.

* ShownTheirWork: In Buster's ImagineSpot, Brain mentions the long-standing cryptozoology theory that Bigfeet are descendants of the prehistoric ape Gigantopithecus, if not actual surviving Gigantopithecus. The same imagine spot shows an illustration of Bigfoot with white fur. While one might assume the illustration is actually of a Yeti, there has actually been an eyewitness report of a white-furred Bigfoot (ironically, the white fur popularly attributed to Yetis is actually a case of SadlyMythtaken, as Yetis are described to have brown or red fur instead).
