->''"Kids' TV drives me insane. So many people don't treat it as a legitimate medium where you can have a bit of fun. It's the same story over and over. Someone breaks Dad's favorite thing. They all go, 'Oh my goodness, what are we going to do!' And they spend the whole afternoon making some craphead version of it. Then it's, 'All I needed in the end was for you to say sorry.' My kids break my stuff all the time, and they don't try to make a new version of it. They don't give a shit!"''

->''All these episodes are ''exactly'' the same. They all follow the same exact formula to a T. Allow me to explain. Episode starts with some [[{{Padding}} filler intro]] that pointlessly explains how the engines are happy to be on the Fat Controller's railway, or it needlessly introduces the main character of the episode in a montage made up of StockFootage from other episodes. A character of authority, usually [[RailroadBaron Sir Topham Hatt]], explains what is happening today and assigns a job to the story's main character. Sometimes the main character has another goal in mind they'd like to accomplish that isn't the job they were assigned. The main character goes off to do their job, but in a hurry to get the job done, they make a mistake either caused by them being focused on the other goal they had in mind or from them being scared of something. They either don't notice, or they do notice and don't care. They make a second mistake that's a little worse than the previous one. Again, they don't notice or don't care. They make the [[RuleOfThree big, bad third mistake]] that ruins the job they were assigned. Sir Topham Hatt or the character of authority is conveniently present for this third mistake and [[WhatTheHellHero reprimands the main character.]] Main character decides to shape up and fixes all three mistakes they made in some sort of montage showing them helping their friends or whatever. The day is saved! The job is finished, and the main character achieves the alternative goal that they wanted at the beginning. Everyone is f*cking happy and [[EverybodyLaughsEnding laughs]] and whistles while the camera pans out or holds on the character's face as [[ThatMakesMeFeelAngry the narrator says how happy they are.]] Literally ''all'' these episodes are the goddamn same.''

->''Many of the customary signifiers of the difficult novel are present and correct. Unnamed narrator? Check. Absence of traditional punctuation? Check. Paragraphs that last for pages? Check. Above all, there’s the belief that the authentic way to depict a human life is not by means of a coherent narrative, but through fragments of memory, fantasy and abstract musings … ''Checkout 19'' offers plenty to relish: fizzing sentences, set pieces that are funny, alarming or both; a convincingly fractured portrait of a convincingly fractured narrator. Yet, by observing the conventions of the unconventional novel a little too closely, it inadvertently confirms how well established, even overfamiliar, many of them now are.''

is a veritable masterpiece! Creator/{{Woody|Allen}} has certainly grown as a filmmaker!\\

->''On the one hand they insist that they don't want to patronize the audience and want to leave things for them to figure out. On the other, when [[Creator/ChrisChibnall Chibnall]] complains that the story was cliched monsters and corridors stuff, Jane Baker rather icily notes that she thought ''Series/DoctorWho'' fans liked traditional stuff. There's something really unsettling about this. It's difficult to see how feeding ''Doctor Who'' fans a steady diet of generic and traditional adventures could be called challenging. Indeed, 'here's the same thing you've been enjoying for decades done with no changes' seems the very definition of patronizing television.''

The Christian fanatic is [[RedHerring too obvious a suspect]]. Maybe it's the doctor's wife. Maybe it's his brother; they were professional rivals, and the deceased just won an award.
