However, she is able to shrug it off at the last moment, just like Fluttershy did, and Discord even remarks on this. ''Unlike'' with Fluttershy, Discord opts not to forcibly turn her afterward. Later in the same chapter, all six of the new Bearers pull the same thing; unlike with Gentle, Discord is pleased by this.

** Bambietta ignores Tosen's shikai because her explosions gave her tinnitus.
** After the Soul Society arc, a random punk tries to punch Ichigo in the back of the head, only to seemingly break his hand due to the sheer amount of spirit energy Ichigo leaks passively.
* ''Fanfic/JackieChanAdventuresOlympianJourney'':
** In her first appearance, [[BigBad Eris]] shrugs off Uncle's blast, even though it had a triple dose of garlic powering it, because her magic is Greek in nature, and therefore not effected by chi magic.
** The second time Jackie is exposed to Phobos' fear power, he manages to break out of the illusion by reminding himself that it's not real.
** Hestia, Athena, and Artemis are, as in the myths, the only beings that Aphrodite could never charm, with Hestia using this to charge thread with the powers of her and Athena to protect the heroes in Chapter 17.
** Eris is immune to the spell that [[spoiler: makes people think that the Six-Eared Macaque is the Monkey King]]. This is partly because of the fact that she helped make it, and partly because it affects the ''world'', and as a goddess she isn't exactly of the world.
** Captain Lewis actually manages to catch Uncle's DopeSlap.
* ''Fanfic/KarmaCircleJudgement'': When he's confronting her, it's made clear that Daan Yel is far more powerful than Gaz, with all of her attempts to bully him into submission completely failing. He throws her into a nightmare when she tries to physically assault him, and after she wakes up he easily disables her flesh-eating security dolls with a single wave of his hand before she can even finish activating them.
* ''Fanfic/ItsAlwaysTheQuietOnes'': Cthulhu and the Wrackspurts are alien abominations that can't be hurt by magic spells, which pass straight through them. Even the Killing Curse, instantly fatal to a human when properly cast, is merely an annoyance to them.
* ''Fanfic/ARedRoseInTheBlueWind'': Neopolitan's fighting style involves creating illusions to fool her opponents. However, these illusions are merely visible illusions and fool only those who see. So when we're introduced to Rouge, a bat with a strong sense of hearing, her Semblance is rendered completely useless; she's on the receiving end of a CurbStompBattle that ends up in Rouge's favor, which causes her to lose it and fight far more aggressively.
* ''Fanfic/Ben10Unlimited'': Darkseid shrugs off Toepick's NightmareFace with mild amusement, even as his Parademon army begins screaming and clawing their eyes out around him. Ben then tries punching him as Ultimate Way Big, with similar results.

* A surprisingly mundane version in ''Fanfic/TheLastSeidr''. Shortly after Loki stole the Tesseract, Fury took Harry Potter and Fawkes aboard the Helicarrier in an attempt to get some answers (also because he's a twelve-year-old with no guardians who just popped in out of no where with a giant magic bird). Fury attempts to scare Harry into talking with his DeathGlare...but Harry isn't phased, as he's been dealing with rude, abusive, bullying adults for most of his life.

* In ''Fanfic/TheFaithChronicles'', Glory is immune to staff blasts and Zat bolts. [[spoiler:Unfortunately for her, she's not immune to the unstable vortex from an activating Stargate]].
* "[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/3726/chapters/4744 Nor Hell a Fury]]" sees Dennis Guilder (''Literature/{{Christine}}'') meet the Winchester brothers (''Series/{{Supernatural}}'') and discuss how his main challenge in dealing with Christine has been working out ''how'' to stop her as he can't work out what kind of supernatural monster she is. As Dennis notes, he already tried to salt and burn the corpse of Christine's original owner, so he's satisfied that she isn't "possessed" in that sense, but that doesn't initially help him work out what Christine ''is''.
* Combines with LogicalWeakness in ''[[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/324211/6/the-trials-and-tribulations-of-trying-to-date-twilight-sparkle/chapter-six-shifting-allies The Trials and Tribulations of Trying to Date Twilight Sparkle]]'' when Princess Cadence blasts Queen Chrysalis with as much power as she can manage. Cadence is the Princess of Love and as a changeling, Chrysalis feeds on love. Chrysalis even mocks her by asking how is shooting love at her supposed to do anything but make her stronger.
* To the shock of all who witness it, Ranma Saotome can tank [[Franchise/StarWars blaster shots]] with ease in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11577216/4/A-Horse-For-the-Force A Horse for the Force]]''. Due to his sheer physical toughness, a blaster pistol is little more than a bee sting to him and a blaster rifle causes a mild burn. And that's without taking his ki shield into account.
** After undergoing the same toughness training but using repulsors, Darth Maul can basically ignore even lightsabers. They only cause significant injury if held in place for long periods of if he's hit [[DeathOfAThousandCuts dozens of times in the same spot]].
* ''Fanfic/ThisBites'':
** Out of rage, Cross attempts to punch Mr. 3 after he realizes that it his presence and intervention allowed Mr. 3 to get a second chance from Crocodile, and allowed him to kill countless civilians and Marines in Rainbase. Mr. 3 neutralizes it with hardly a thought, and even lampshades it.
** [[spoiler:Enel's [[BigBrotherIsWatching Logia-powered Mantra]] is completely unaffected by Soundbite's attempts to block him out.]]
** Bartolomeo, Miss Goldenweek, Apis, and Lindy are all immune to Boa Hancock's Love-Love Beam. Miss Goldenweek due to having basically emotionally castrated herself, Lindy due to having such bizarre sexual preferences, Bartolomeo because [[{{Fanboy}} he's too dedicated to Luffy]], and Apis... because she's too young to feel lust (and she's too scared of Hancock to feel the more platonic types of love for her). The Marineford arc adds that Izo is immune for the same reason as Bartolomeo - he's too dedicated to another (specifically, Kozuki Oden) to be swayed by her power.
** Garp completely ignores Vivi's [[spoiler: [[CompellingVoice Sovereign's Will]]]], since he doesn't respect her authority.
** Luffy attempts to use his Conqueror's Haki on Sheepshead after he tries to kill [[spoiler: Porche.]] While the other Paradise pirates are nearly pushed into unconsciousness, Sheepshead and the other New World pirates are externally unaffected, though they do take interest that Luffy has such an ability.
* Pokémon of a sufficiently higher level in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11803928/4/Challenger Challenger]]'' can basically ignore attacks from lower level ones. As a test, Giovanni lets Ash's Charmander attack his Nidoqueen and the latter is at most mildly amused by said attacks.
* In the ''Series/{{Heroes}}''/''Literature/TheTwilightSaga'' crossover "[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12045706/1/Dark-Days Dark Days]]", when the Cullens and Peter fight alongside the Volturi to stop vampires infected with a madness-inducing virus, Jane's abilities are useless against the infected vampires as they're already in such pain from the infection that they don't notice the pain she's causing.
* Naruto in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3665921/51/Black-Flames-Dance-In-The-Wind-Rise-of-Naruto Black Flames Dance in the Wind: Rise of Naruto]]'' can outright ignore fire jutsu due to his immense affinity for the element.

Freeza challenges God to strike him down if he is really so evil. Freeza doesn't even finish his sentence before being hit by a BoltOfDivineRetribution, but is utterly unaffected by it. If anything, he's mildly amused and tells God to try harder next time.
