* ''WesternAnimation/TheWuzzles'' has the episode "Bumblelion and the Terrified Forest", an episode which has a goofy swashbuckler pastiche as its theme suddenly switches out of nowhere to a ''horror movie'' pastiche.
** Butterbear is kidnapped by dingbats and spirited away to the castle of the "vampire witch of the Terrified Forest", which itself is a creepy fate, given that both Bumblelion and Hoppo are visibly terrified of the notion.
** The dingbats themselves; horrible humanoid wolf-like creatures with bat-like wings and exaggerated, vampire-like fangs. Despite being characteristic bungling goofs, they are shown to have a distinct sadistic streak, as shown when they sabotage a bridge over a ravine that almost ''kills'' Hoppo when it gives way under her.
** The first thing that Bumblelion and Hoppo see when they enter the Terrified Forest is a sign pointing the way to the vampire witch's castle, with some creepy "faced trees" in the background. When Bumblelion tries to boast that he's not scared, those trees ''come to life'', speaking in a groaning voice that sounds like a chorus of damned souls. The camera zooms in close on their horrible faces - gaping, twisted mouths paired with deep, skull-like eyes - as they warn the Wuzzles to turn back before starting up a chorus of moans that encourages the two Wuzzles to beat feet.
** After they get past the aforementioned sabotaged bridge, Bumblelion and Hoppo find themselves attacked by a swarm of starving piranhakeets - imagine ''flying'' cartoon piranhas.
** Just getting into the vampire witch's castle requires getting past a moat full of ferocious crocodile-boar monsters.
** The sequence when Bumblelion and Hoppo are exploring the vampire witch's castle, separated from other and trying to stealthily explore the creepy place (complete with portraits whose eyes move to follow them) whilst avoiding the attention of the monstrous gorrantula that's stalking them. It's especially tense because Transylvia, the vampire witch who used to reside there, had explicitly mentioned the last six people she'd sent to the castle to retrieve the butterberries she needs to defeat the gorrantula, had never made it back alive.
** Then there's the episode's climax; Hoppo, being at the top tower whilst Bumblelion is on the ground outside, decides to have some fun and play a little DamselInDistress routine - completely unaware that the gorrantula is ''right behind her''. Which then leads us to finally seeing the monster in the flesh: ''a disembodied KillerGorilla head scuttling about on eight spider's legs''. One big enough to swallow Hoppo whole. No wonder Transylvia packed her stuff and left rather than face the thing without a shrinking potion!

Moved the Stickin' Around example to its own page.

* ''NightmareFuel/StickinAround''

* ''Stickin' Around'' has some really freaky imagery throughout, but one of the more blatant moments comes from "Send in the Clones", when Stacey's mom gets made at Stacey and Bradley for rollerskating in the living room and making a mess, and turns into a bomb and ''explodes''.
-->'''Bradley:''' Whoa! [[LampshadeHanging Your mom really blew her top!]]

* The animated adaption of the post-apocalyptic Days Of Future Past storyline in the X-Men 90s Animated Series, especially the telepathic vision Xavier recieves from Bishop of the nightmarish future.

** The ultimate fate of Graydon Creed in the series, being left at his father's doorstep. Said father? ''Sabertooth''. The line Sabertooth delivers is simply ''chilling''.

* ''WesternAnimation/AsToldByGinger'': The "And She Was Gone" poem. Many fans of the show felt it to be rather depressing and scary. In addition to being awesome.

* ''WesternAnimation/DrawnTogether''. Sometimes it [[CrossesTheLineTwice crosses the line]] a time too many, and becomes High Octane {{Squick}}. A few examples:
** Wooldoor accidentally shooting a truck driver, then trying (and failing) to tell the news to the driver's family...while wearing his skin.
** The meat made out of Clara's forest friends [[RaisingTheSteaks flopping along to her song]].
** A crazed mall cop taking hostage and killing a random woman. For that matter, there are a ''lot'' of scenes where random bystanders are horrifically mutilated and/or killed with no further comment, which are very unsettling in general.
** The candies made of the body parts of Wooldoor's relatives.
*** Which was a VERY thinly disguised Holocaust reference.
** What Foxxy [[NoodleIncident hints]] happened to "Timmy".

* The cartoon ''WesternAnimation/HalloweenIsGrinchNight'' consists of concentrated, surreal horror and a flimsy plot that sets it up. Especially the "Spooks' Song" sequence. The monsters would be mild to moderately creepy on their own, but coupled with the music, they're suddenly the scariest effing things ''ever''. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeFaBvL72a8]]

* ''WesternAnimation/ThePiratesOfDarkWater''. The BigBad is a sentient black blob that can warp people and destroy everything it touches. And it's ''trying to engulf the world''. (Also, the episode where the old woman tries using the Dark Water in a youth potion and winds up ''being consumed from the inside'' is probably one of the most disturbing things in a kid's show.)

* ''WesternAnimation/XMenEvolution'' episode 25 (''Mindbender'') in which [[spoiler: [[TheDragon Mesmero]]]] appears. There was no blood, no ultra violence, no huge fights... just him kidnapping and brainwashing a bunch of innocent kids ([[spoiler: Jean, Kitty, Evan and Kurt]]), using them to set off his EvilPlan to wake up [[spoiler: his master Apocalypse]] [[AdultFear and slipping unnoticed under their caretakers' watch]]. And he starts this by entering the kids's dreams and turning them into nightmares. Poor, ''poor'' Jean Grey. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGbJsjjOGyA Watch it here, with the Latin-american dub conveying the feeling almost as well as the original]]...
** ''Blind Alley'' wasn't much better. Scott gets stranded in a deserted town [[spoiler: as Mystique's revenge for him derailing her EvilPlan]] without his visor, completely unable to even open his eyes or he'll blast everything on sight into nothingness...

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Doug}}'': Some of Doug's fantasies could qualify as this. Such as in "Doug's Lucky Hat," where Roger steals his hat, and he imagines he's a homeless sock peddler while Roger's an enormously successful financial tycoon. The fantasy ends with Roger's limo splashing dirty rainwater at Doug (who has a pathetically desperate facial expression). No doubt, that fantasy gave more than a few kids nightmares for years!
** "Mr. Dink, I broke your grill."
*** "YOU BROKE MY GRILL?!!!???!!"
** Also, Judy And Her Dancing Cats.

* ''WesternAnimation/QuackPack'':
** Donald's malfunctioning video game from "All Hands on Duck".
** Donald as the Duck of Doom when he grows large. ([[PunctuatedForEmphasis "CLEAN! YOUR! ROOM!"]]) An oddly (and perhaps unintentionally) frightening part of an otherwise farcical episode.
** The Tasty Paste [[AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever monster]].

* "Enter the Fly" from ''[[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles]]'' is without a doubt the darkest episode from the original cartoon (barring the [[CerebusSyndrome "Red Sky" episodes"]]. Shredder, who's usually apt to take April hostage and place her in all sorts of crazy death traps, instead poisons her and forces the Turtles to seek an antidote, which he then manages to steal and forces them to confront him to get it back. Seeing the Turtles confronted with the fact that April could very well die and seeing her comatose body lie closer to death is disturbing enough. But the real thing that makes this episode horrifying is Baxter Stockman's fate that gets him transformed in the first place. When he winds up in Dimension X Krang attempts to immediately dispose of him by tossing him into the Technodrome's disintegration unit, which then activates and causes his skin to disappear even as he frantically cries to be released. Then a random fly that also winds up in the unit merges with Baxter, and his scream as the thing combines with him permanently is damned unsettling.
** In "Enter: Mutagen Man", a guy ''falls apart'' in a vat of toxic chemicals. It's PlayedForLaughs and the guy survives, but it's still a creepy scene in an otherwise light-hearted episode.
** Poor [[ButtMonkey Baxter]] gets a similar treatment in ''another'' [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2003 TMNT series]]. Look up "Insane in the Membrane".
