This still doesn't count; not only is it baseless speculation at this point since nothing shown so far implies Bowser has that ability, but even then, as it stands, it's basically like saying "Imagine how scary it would be if the villain had the hero's power...", which is so broad it can be applied to basically anything. If Bowser shows he's able to perform that Capture ability too, then it could be worth adding back in, but as it stands, it isn't.

* Mario's Capture ability lets him possess just about anything and anyone, even inanimate objects. If someone evil got their hands on it ''nothing would be safe''.

We see Cappy merging with Mario's crushed cap in the trailers, so it was obviously crushed before Cappy inhabits it.

* Okay, so Bowser crushing Mario's hat isn't very nightmare-fuely. But the fact that said hat is now sentient ''makes'' it nightmare-fuely. Let's hope Bowser crushed the cap before Cappy started living there...

* Just in case you thought [[VideoGame/CaptainToadTreasureTracker the Mud Troopers and Mummy Mes]] weren't scary enough, this game introduces Chinchos, who share similarities to those two enemies. They appear to be mummified spiritual beings like the Mummy Mes. For the Mud Troopers, they share their slow pace as they home in on you with their arms outstretched, with sad eyes that can be as heartbreaking as they are terrifying. What better pick for the Day of the Dead apparently being celebrated here at Tostarena? They provide the page image, amigos.

We have no reason to believe it's one of them; it doesn't even really look like them. Let's not have wild speculation.

This is the first mainstream Mario game to get an E10+ rating. This will be darker than your average Mario game.

Removing baseless speculation and overexaggeration. Seriously, these entries not only try to make this MARIO game sound like a freaking horror game (I know this is a YMMV-based page, but still), but it was basically making things up at this point

* Mario's Capture ability lets him possess just about anything, even inanimate objects. If someone evil got their hands on it ''nothing would be safe''.
** The cruelty potential of Mario's power is immense. You could murder someone, and then frame the person you controlled as the murderer. You could do a low risk robbery by taking over one of the guards that transport the money in and out of the bank. Hell, you could take over the mind of a rich person and have them transfer a portion of their money to your bank account. The possibilities really could go on and on.
*** Thankfully, you can't possess anyone already wearing a hat.

* This takes place in an area called the Deep Woods, which is terrifying itself. It's dark and moody, shadows obscuring everything until you actually get near it. The area also has absolutely no music, only ambient noises, which adds to the creep factor. Oh yeah, and there's a ''Tyrannosaurus rex living down there.'' We don't blame Mario for shaking in his boots during his IdleAnimation.
