* Right before Maleficent dies, she gets stabbed by the Sword of Truth. This has to be the goriest thing that Disney has ever done, because you actually see BLOOD come out of her dragon form. Not substitute blood, actual red blood.

* Let's just cut to the quick, shall we? Maleficent in general, is quite possibly the darkest, most powerful, and frightening villain Disney has ever produced. There isn't even a single scene in the movie where she is portrayed as comical or inept. In fact, in other media, such as the ''Kingdom Hearts'' games, Maleficent acts as the defacto leader of the Disney villains. Only her minions fill that role. And Diablo, her sinister pet crow, is likely the ''only'' villainous sidekick (aside from [[Disney/TheLittleMermaid Flotsam and Jetsam much later]]) to not be portrayed as comical or buffoonish.

* According to the DVDCommentary, the scene where Phillip is ambushed and captured was one for one of the ones commenting when he first saw it as a kid, only he couldn't remember the source of it for ''years'' until seeing the movie again as a teenager.

** As the fairies are rushing frantically to find her in the different passageways, we see Aurora's feet, moving ''slowly'' up the stairs of the tallest tower. We don't hear a sound except for the siren call, and yet the fairies somehow do and give chase. And when they scream "Rose!" it echoes off the walls. Just the thought that they're running frantically to save their beloved Aurora, while Aurora walks SLOWLY to her doom.
