Malware of this nature underscores why it is important to back-up valued files.

* Windows 9x/ME, on much older (Pre-ATX) computers where the ACPI specification isn't a thing, the PC doesn't power off once Windows shuts down; the user has to manually hit the power button. The reason for this step back being Windows XP onwards was designed for an ACPI-enabled motherboard, and the only way for you to get this screen is if the ACPI driver had become corrupted or something bad has happened to the ACPI control circuit on the motherboard (or if you had somehow gotten said versions of Windows running on older pre-ACPI hardware).
* If UsefulNotes/MozillaFirefox detects a reported attack site or phishing site, then it displays an extremely unnerving error screen with it being a blood red box over a dark gray background, with white text inside. Extremely jarring in contrast to its regular normal error screens, which is entirely white with black text. Worst of all, it makes good on its threat: once activated, it overwrites your computer's boot sector, so if your computer is rebooted, all you'll ever get is a looping image of Nyan Cat. And if you terminate its process, it floods the screen with taunting messages before blue-screening your computer. The one saving grace of [=MEMz=] is the fact that [[CardCarryingVillain it is blatant about being malware]], having been made specifically to be shown off on [=YouTube=], and gives users a warning to not run it on a physical machine unless you want to render it useless.

* Typing in unusual text in Google Translate sometimes yields hilariously nonsensical results. Other times, it brings up some rather disturbing messages involving [[ReligiousHorror Biblical scriptures and the apocalypse]] such as the now-patched result of typing in "dog" in Maori or Hawaiian 19 times being "Doomsday Clock is three minutes at twelve We are experiencing characters and a dramatic developments in the world, which indicate that we are increasingly approaching the end times and Jesus' return". The fact that not even the Beast from ''WesternAnimation/MaggieAndTheFerociousBeast'', Jess the cat from ''WesternAnimation/GuessWithJess'' and even Max, the monster from ''WesternAnimation/MonsterMathSquad'' aren't left unhurt? The message at the end stating that they blame us for Qubo's shutdown, concluding with them thanking us for nothing? Thankfully, the video is nothing more than a hoax/{{Creepypasta}} made to scare kids (with the number featured in the video leading to a JustForFun/{{Rickroll}} if it was called), but everything about this video is still just plain disturbing, especially for Qubo fans and people who grew up with the channel or any of the shows featured in the video... * Mobile apps that translate words in real-time through the phone's video camera. Not so bad if a bubble pops up with the translated text, but some creepily try to go the extra mile by trying to replace the actual words being captured, attempting to mimic the font, size, angle, and color scheme of the original. It always fails. The idea is so misguided, that if it were used in a movie to clue in the protagonist that they're in a simulator, it could make for some good horror.

The humanoid-faced cat? The music, which sounds sad, angry, and insanely happy all at once? The fact that this is the final video in their alphabet series doesn't help; They don't end with the alphabet song, but with [[WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs an acid trip-sequel nightmare]]. And this was meant for kids.

Kicking off with, similar to the above-mentioned Fabrica logo, a pair of eyes in space, it mainly comprises many pictures of planets cheaply transitioning to one another, and capping off with the words "Vadi-Mon" zooming in and out of view. All of this is accompanied by a sinister (but relaxing) saxophone number.

It starts with a band playing music until the female singer stops to talk, then the guy with the red guitar knocks her over and ''bashes her with the guitar, causing her neck to bleed,'' then the guy with the brown guitar slaps him, giving him a nosebleed, and finally, the drummer throws one of his cymbals at one of the other band members, '''''splitting his head open,''''' then casually goes back to drumming while the others can be heard screaming in the background. No wonder many people dubbed this "the scariest logo in Ireland", if not "the scariest logo ever".
* The logo for Matthew Carnahan Circus Products ([[https://youtu.be/4hadYGs94BQ see it here]]). Nothing worse than a MonsterClown very badly playing the violin in a dark red environment.
* Back in the 1960s at the end of NBC News programs, people were [[SarcasmMode treated]] to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-26uid_GYE this]]. Letters merge to form the company's name as music that wouldn't sound out of place in a horror movie begins to play. The whole thing ends with the text zooming out, then suddenly zooming back in at breakneck speed, accompanied by a LastNoteNightmare.
* The infamous [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQd-ls7Psh8 Screen Gems]] logo from the 1960s, nicknamed the [[FanNickname "S from Hell"]]. The heavily synthesized music, composed by Eric Siday, and abstract shapes scared quite a few people and can startle anyone who isn't prepared.
** When Screen Gems was re-launched as a movie studio in 1998, the "S from Hell" was mellowed down a lot for the 1999 company logo. Occasionally, the logo is colored red, which is unsettling on its own, but then there's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLeYMIKDnQo this variant]] from ''Film/TheCovenant'', where the spiral S is formed with fire, accompanied by haunting music.
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90U0dYQDft0 Klasky-Csupo]] logo from 1998, which has been known to scare many children, involves a sudden splat of ink bringing forth a creepy-looking face that looks like it just came out of a little kid's nightmare, with huge, bulgy, realistic looking eyes and a thick-lipped mouth on yellow construction paper. The ink splat is named, [[MeaningfulName meaningfully]], Splaat.
** An unfortunate side effect of Nickelodeon's CreditsPushback was that sometimes, this logo would appear after the credits on a show it wasn't supposed to: ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants''. This doesn't happen anymore, thankfully.
** ''WesternAnimation/TheWildThornberrysMovie'' closes with [[https://youtu.be/SSxAa4R1G1c this ident]], where, before fading to black, [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou Splaat creepily looks and smiles at the viewer through the Klasky-Csupo logo]].

A man and a woman are lying down on a boat, while sharks are swimming around them. One shark chomps on the boat as the woman screams, followed by a [[SarcasmMode lovely]] shot of swirling blood. The logo ends with the woman's severed arm floating downwards, with a shark forming the logo. The menacing piano ditty doesn't help.

* Odds are you remember the logo for [[https://youtu.be/k2oPegS91E4 Stephen J. Cannell Productions]] and were probably scared of the live-action typewriting man (Stephen J. Cannell himself), the dramatic music, and the cel animation at the end.
* The logo for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGxFZweecOI Rainbow Releasing]], due to the absence of music and the evil-looking Creator/OrsonWelles staring into the camera.

The sudden shift forward at the end could startle those who aren't expecting it.
* German filmmaking company Atlas International's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7uquuuRxXc logo]] from 1979 to 1988 features a map of the entire world, choppy animation, and a synthesizer theme that, while rather badass, is quite menacing. Just the mere thought of something like that entering your chimney is terrifying. This ident was made by WebAnimation/{{Cyriak}}, the creator of animations such as "Baaa" and "cows & cows & cows".
* Several French-Canadian viewers were frightened by the ident from [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Izjwr7H27uE Radio-Québec]], which features the logo slowly being formed on a black background as a synth tune plays, ending with a [[LastNoteNightmare dissonant binaural tone that comes out of nowhere]] as text zooms in below the logo in a choppy fashion.

The creepiness of this logo was likely intentional, as the company made horror films. It is recommended to turn down the volume before watching videos of this logo.

** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfdKZksf3fc Titwala Filmwalas]] logo used for ''Bengal Tiger'' used a [[SensoryAbuse very loud]] blowing of a sringa that sounds like a high-pitched maniacal EvilLaugh more than anything, accompanied by a creepy looking psychedelic green background.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sf7Rf-uhHac Manish Films]]. The logo starts with 4 seconds of silence with a dark background, which then lights up to reveal a Goddess with lots of weapons[[note]][[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durga Durga, the Goddess of Victory of Good over Evil.]][[/note]], accompanied by a sudden ScareChord. The darkness can also contribute to pale toes.
* Back in the 1990s, Finnish movie distributor Finnkino used to open their features with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXPdpaVec9M this logo]] in both cinemas and home video releases — including children's cartoons. The logo features a rotating planet, which then converts to a creepy-looking eye of some creature, with two ballerinas jumping up, accompanied by a wolf howl and very dramatic music. The ballet dancers become dust and fly away, as the Finnkino logo turns blood-red.

Even if [[WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs any drugs weren't involved]] in the production of these bumpers, watching the whole linked video would seem like a whole bad acid trip that will never seem to stop.
* The French [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJWGfNpLM6k Fil à Film]] logo, where a calming warning screen [[JumpScare suddenly cuts]] to a sudden [[ExplosionsInSpace explosion in space]], followed by a stone model of a camera zooming in and out with a dramatic fanfare before the result forms. For added effect, this also appears after TV promotions of their tapes.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HXy17sTtZs This logo]] from the Thai film company Coliseum Film gained infamy as one of the scariest Southeast Asian logos, and for a good reason, due to the elephant's menacing look and uncanny motions, alongside the [[SensoryAbuse loud fanfare]].
* Several ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes'' and Merrie Melodies cartoons throughout the mid-'30s to the mid-'60s would open up with the Creator/WarnerBros shield [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcOBvP0LcSo zooming in to position]], accompanied by a loud twang sound, which was startling but nothing mind-scarring. However, the same cannot be said for the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tf939p_Hlo variant at the beginning]] of the 1954 ''WesternAnimation/BugsBunny'' short, ''WesternAnimation/LumberJackRabbit'' (the first Bugs Bunny cartoon released in 3-D), where the shield zooms '''''much''''' closer than usual and ''almost engulfs the entire screen'', which can make anyone [[JumpScare jump out of their seats]] if not expecting it. The twanging is also tweaked to sound more horrifying.

* The SurrealHorror from [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J36nHi5PVo8 Cocinor]], with the black and white colors, textile tunnel, and the company name stretching in a ghostly manner, all set to a bizarre orchestral piece.

Worse, this was often ''the very first logo'' at the start of tapes and, while it was on some tapes of R-rated Hollywood films, it also appeared in front of some children's videos.
* When the former UK satellite channel Bravo started becoming DarkerAndEdgier towards the end of TheNineties, there was a campaign of bumpers that ran for a few months that were just outright TERRIFYING. Not to mention the music in all of them, which is disturbing as well. Here are some examples:
** One with a goldfish swimming in a blender, which then gets '''switched on.''' We don't see it, [[NothingIsScarier but we do hear it.]]
** One where we see rabbits on a farm, then a grenade falls down, which promptly blows them up off-screen.

** One with mugshots of a female giving a SlasherSmile.

** One with someone whose mouth is sewn shut with a scared expression on their face as they try to speak.
** One with a man in a mental asylum chair, who pulls off a NightmareFace.
* If you grew up in France during TheSeventies, there's a chance you might have been creeped out by [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5fASM0EDK8 this]] bumper Antenne 2 (now France 2) used during the time, which consisted of trippy-as-all-hell animation put to the tune of an electronic soundtrack by François de Roubaix that can best be described as early [[Creator/VirginRecords Virgin]]-era Music/TangerineDream on cocaine.
* Walt Disney Home Video is somewhat notorious for its logos and bumpers scaring young viewers back in the VHS days.
** The lilac [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ev26vU6_TOo Feature Presentation]] card appeared on the most releases during the 1990's, but any bumper that used that "Great Ovation" fanfare was pretty frightening, due to how loud and sinister the music is, and their appearances were always sudden.
** Another ominous fanfare that was often used in the beginning of Disney tapes was most memorably heard in the gold [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCPjPpdqXUI Walt Disney Home Video]] logo. The bumpers in question suffer the same problems as before: they were loud and their appearances were completely spontaneous.
