* CoolBike: "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" is about a very cool bike.[[note]]Thompson has said in interviews that he chose the '52 Black Lightning because when he was a child, that was the coolest, most aspirational bike he knew of. In fact, it may be ''too'' cool for strict plausibility; the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vincent_Black_Lightning Black Lightning]] was a factory special build that was the fastest bike in the world in its time, and accordingly expensive, and only 31 were ever built. It was surely beyond the means of the song's BadassBiker criminal protagonist, even if he had "robbed many a man" to get it.[[/note]]

* RomanticRideSharing: The romance between bikers James and Red Molly in "1952 Vincent Black Lightning", having developed thanks to their shared enthusiasm for a certain bike, naturally progesses this way.

Richard Thompson (born 3 April 1949) is a highly regarded British singer/songwriter/guitarist, admired for his virtuosity and his incredibly dark but brilliant lyrics. He began with the British FolkRock group Music/FairportConvention before striking out as a solo artist (recording a number of albums with his then wife Linda). Highly regarded amongst his peers, including Music/DavidByrne, Music/ElvisCostello and Christy Moore, he has somehow avoided commercial success.
