In early 2017, fans noticed that Choa hadn't made any public appearances with the group for quite a while, to which FNC replied she was on hiatus. Fans were immediately skeptical and began speculating as to the "real" reason she had stopped promotions, to which Choa replied by revealing on her Instagram that [[http://www.asianjunkie.com/2017/06/22/choa-is-leaving-aoa-due-to-mental-health-reasons-leaves-message-on-instagram/ she would be leaving the group]] due to mental health issues. She revealed in May 2019 that she would be ending her FNC contract entirely.

In May 2019, Mina suddenly announced she would be leaving the group, surprising fans, as she had previously spoken about wanting to remain in the group for "years to come" and had actually recorded lines for their single "Come See Me".

In August of 2020, Mina posted disturbing photos of herself having apparently attempted suicide to her social media account, leading to her briefly being hospitalized. Shortle afterwards, FNC Entertainment released [[https://www.soompi.com/article/1418005wpp/fnc-entertainment-releases-statement-addressing-former-aoa-member-minas-social-media-posts their own statement]], saying they hoped Mina recovered as quickly as she could, and also said they would be refraining from releasing their side of the story (and that they had informed the other members not to speak about it) until Mina as in a better state of mind. In September of 2021, following a period of time in which Mina got into several controversies/scandals (as elaborated on in the YMMV page) and her ''still'' bringing up the "bullying" allegations[[note]]which by this time were continually changing and causing netizens to become more and more skeptical of her claims[[/note]], [[https://www.soompi.com/article/1487742wpp/dispatch-releases-conversations-involving-current-and-former-aoa-members-including-kwon-mina-and-jimin-kwon-mina-responds a series of conversations between Mina and the other members was released]] that turned the whole matter on its head. In the messages, Mina is revealed to have been intially very warm and friendly towards Jimin before suddenly turning on her and calling her a horrible bully and ignoring Jimin's sincere attempts to apologize to her and understand Mina's point of view, as well as revealing that she used to terrorize the staff members by demanding they take care of personal appointments for her and then getting angry with them if things were not done to her liking. The revelation has caused the vast majority of netizens to revise their opinions on Mina's claim, and conclude that Jimin was simply a (perhaps slightly overly) strict leader whose personality clashed with Mina's, and there had been no bullying at all. After first announcing she would have a press conference and provide "evidence and witnesses"[[note]]something she was notorious for flip-flopping on[[/note]], Mina deleted her Instagram profile, seemingly permanently this time.

Mina posted - who had originally claimed that she and Jimin came had talked things out after Jimin's father passed and she realized her behaviour may have hurt Mina - then said the other members had suddenly come to her house and made a very disingenuous apology, and [[https://www.soompi.com/article/1410889wpp/aoas-jimin-posts-apology-following-minas-allegations-about-bullying also accused the other members Hyejeong, Chanmi, Yuna and Seolhyun of all allying themselves with Jimin against her]].
her]]. During this visit, she claimed Jimin grabbed a knife and asked Mina if she wanted her (Jimin) to kill herself as punishment. Mina said no, and the two sat down and talked. Mina then said Jimin had apologized repeatedly and she had accepted it, but in the same paragraph said she did ''not'' accept the apology as she believed Jimin was lying, and in fact could not remember anything Jimin had said at all, (althought she somehow remembered Jimin saying she denied everything Mina alleged had happened).
