* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Zelm looks remarkably similar to MorganFreeman. The fact he seems to be stoic and authoritative further increases the resemblance.

** Apparently Mamoru knew about it and [[spoiler: agrees to marriage]] if they survive the current battle. [[spoiler:They do end up getting married, though not until Haruka is older.]]

* TheJailBaitWait: Not that Mamoru is invoking the trope himself but if Haruka's premonition about their marriage holds true, which it likely will, then the start of any real intimate relationship between the two is most likely waiting on this. [[spoiler: In a side chapter, it reveals the vision Haruka had of their marriage featured a visibly aged Haruka, who had to be at least in her late teens or early twenties.]]

* MarriedInTheFuture: Part of the point of the story is that the heroine, who is [[PsychicPowers precognizant]], saw a future where she was married to our main AntiHero, and she really wants that to come true.

* BoringButPractical: How Mamoru ultimately defeats [[Zashid. He repeats a sequence of the same attack over and over again too quickly for Zashid to do anything but defend. However, due to the repetitive nature (which the series ties to quantum probabilities) Zashid's brain slips during the sequence and his defense falters, allowing Mamoru to finally cut him down. It doesn't affect Mamoru because he'd practiced the attack so much his body was able to carry on with it automatically through pure muscle memory.]]

* AttackDrone: Fang uses special remote drones with sound dampeners so Mamoru's eyes can't detect them. [[spoiler: Later, Edge uses another set of even more advanced ones against Tate and Genda.]]
* AwesomeButImpractical: Mamoru's monomolecular swords waver back and forth over the line on this one. On one hand, it ''can'' cut through just about anything. On the other hand, in order to do so, it needs to be extraordinarily straight and thin, which makes it exceedingly brittle and causes it to wear down very quickly if he doesn't hit his target exactly right. As a consequence, he breaks several such swords over the course of the series.

* ImprobableWeaponUser: Aside from Mamoru's monomolecular blade, there's a whole host of opponents who use a variety of weird weapons. Dega of the Trumps uses a bizarre, hyper-efficient, rebounding counterweight. Another one fights with invisible, razor-thin boomerangs. Then there's Zelm, who uses a cane that fires and retracts a barrage of metal spears. And, of course, there's Dai, with his weaponized motorcycle.

* JerkassFacade: Any character considered to be a hero in this story definitely plays this trope straight. They might be tough assholes but they're willing to do anything to help Haruka in whatever way they can.

** Taken to extreme lengths with Edge, who basically kickstarted the larger part of the plot by sending information about Haruka's abilities back to Galboa (and thus ensuring that she would remain a priority target for the rest of her life). In payment, Mamoru takes one of his arms...and then another one later on. Then Edge ends up being arrested by Genda and Tate. To top that off, he's broken out of prison ''by Mamoru'' so that he can go back and "lead" a revolution against his father back in Duhana. You'd probably feel sorry for the guy...if he didn't completely deserve every minute of it. Mamoru personally vows to make every moment of Edge's life a living hell to ensure that he regrets his decision.
